in this case why not just use go-binary as the backend? go is natively designed to be single executable and you don't need any package tools, and it does everything node.js can do on your OS while using your browser as a GUI frontend.

if you have a huge size of iptables list yes bpf is important, bpf is more for performance reasons otherwise iptables suits the need just fine, in this case of personal firewall, iptables shall be good(and simple) enough

All I really need is showing imgs in the console, which w3m-img can do along with w3m but you need an xterm instead of the modern consoles(gnome-terminal, konsole,lxterminal, none can show imgs) the docker images of brow.sh needs firefox an

why not just golang+http in one binary as backend and browser for the GUI frontend, that seems can solve all the GUI problems. of course you will need a modern browser, which is everywhere these days.
