It's clutter because it adds no information value on a short lived branch. If it's a branch that periodically syncs with another it's ok, if you're just basing off current master for a feature branch rebase is the way to

PR should be sent to review in a state that author considers ready to merge. Assuming it will be squashed and taking that as a reason for submitting dirty history is just sloppy and unrespectful. Merging is for keeping track of a group of c

Curious choice of mustard as main picture of the article. Dijon mustard has like 4 ingredients: mustard seeds, salt, vinegar and bisolfite. Among processed canned condiments it must be the healthiest one.

A bit tangent but for me the biggest improvement in concentration I ever experienced came with nutritional ketosis. I can easily enter a flow state and work on the same problem for hours without any effort since I've been fat adapted.

Not a gamer so first time I heard this. For some reason it bothers me so much. It's not random, it's perfectly reproducible and has a crystal clear explanation. They are using short hashes for version numbers which is looking for

Maybe in the US where the whole AA thing is popular and widespread. I'd be surprised if that's a factor at all elsewhere. Where I'm from I've never met anyone who would label themselves as 'former alcoholics'.

They removed subpixel hinting after Mojave IIRC. Now it's unusable on anything less than a 27inch 4K display, and it's been like that since years...

Apologies from me, see tikkosam comment, it seems true indeed. There is an exception that allows this practice in article 31. My trust in EU regulations took a tiny hit today.

Thank you! it is indeed true and allowed then. I'm quite surprised as it adds ambiguity and complexity and leaves a backdoor open for playing with serving sizes and dilutions. I mean they could list the instructions for a diluted final

That doesn't say anything. It just says it may be more convenient to express data per 100 ml if you have a liquid product. Can you cite the article where it says you can express nutritional data with respect to a final form of the prod

Additives and artificial sweeteners still have calories. E.g. 1g of citric acid is about 2.5 kcal. Also it's fun how can they name something "energy drink" and then advertise no calories. Where do I get the energy then?

> in Europe the requirement is to specify nutrition data per 100 g of "usable" product Source? that doesn't seem true and seems prone to the same serving size tricks used in US. My experience it that nutritional values per

My point was more that sometimes with modern internet it's quite easy to end up in a very specific and small bubble and think it represents the world. But sure I guess you're right, as long as there is an audience willing to liste

Our field is burdened by complexity. Some people cannot function properly without illuding themself they can tame it. So they cling to rules, best practices, tools hoping that adopting them to the letter will protect them from the uncertain

Given Slack is mentioned I'd guess credentials to some remote machine were regularly posted in a channel as a means to notify about periodic password changes.

Choice is a privilege you rarely have in a day to day job. Bash most of the time is already there and you have to live with it. Also, I've been forced to work on a huge SCons based project and I guarantee python can make your life quit

It's not just disrespectful, it's stupid and dangerous. GPL is one of those exceptional things that shaped the world as it is today. These projects are nothing more than an attack to our freedom.

Well these are two very different examples. One, ROOT, is a powerful data analysis framework that as powerful as it is failed to be general and easy to use enough to ever get out the HEP world. The other one, gstreamer, is a beautifully des

I started as a Linux enthusiast a long time ago, these days in my own time I use macos and I don't miss Linux that much, as long as I'm in the terminal I don't feel a difference. At daily job I'm forced to use Windows, t

Reading and writing text is perfectly fine on a full-hd display if you have subpixel antialiasing. The only platform where 4k is barely enough is macos since they deliberately decided to remove subpixel hinting when they introduced hidpi di

In day to day code review I most definitely can. I can recognise fairly well each of my team coding style, when it deviates significantly from that it's either blindly copied or comes from AI.
