by the way, out of curiosity, is this something content producers add to their videos or something youtube autogenerates? I've seen SmartTubeNext skipping ads and other bullshit and I was wondering where the feature came from.

That's not work, that's life. The opposite of working is not idling, it is spending your time in activities that realize your self without being constrained by the survival struggle.

I have a couple of sparse swap files handy for when I know I'll need them. And it happens with some very specific and predictable use cases. Usually it's when I need to load some big timeseries csv files from pandas and parse a da

Get a good amount of swap on ssd, the default 2GB on most distros is not nearly enough to save you when you really need swapping. IIRC you can even make it sparse to not occupy disk space when you're not using it.

I believe it's a generational thing. We, in our late thirties, didn't have so much video content, we studied from books, learned from written content. Younger generations adapted to use videos as a learning aid, sometimes as the m

The comparison here is not Amazon vs Zalando, it's Amazon vs the typical marketplace seller, which is either an italian small business or a chinese seller or european dropshipper shipping directly from China.

Market dominance exists because they offer a better service to the customer. It's not like Amazon has always existed in Italy and always had a dominance position. They gathered their position because they offer a better experience and

Doesn't seem this will hold any ground if Amazon decides to fight it... FBA products have a clear competitive advantage: free shipping for Prime customers, fast and reliable shippings, easy returns, a networks of lockers so you don

Yep, they made it gradually less discoverable, leaving an option in system preferences first, then removing it and allowing to enable it from cmdline, then removing it altogether. I believe it went away completely with Big Sur.

For most people not using macos 4k is overkill and 1080p can be enough not by itself but because the other two major OS (windows and linux) have antialiased text with subpixel hinting. I.e. they can exploit the pixel internal structure to d

that's a different issue altogether, this one is about macos not supporting 2k and 4k monitors native resolutions, that one was about antialiasing. At some point, when Retina was introduced, Apple decided to completely disable their su
