Well there's the Putnam competition, which MIT has been completely dominating recently ( https://kskedlaya.org/putnam-archive/AnnouncementOfWinners20... ).

They'll start with the same silicon design but manufacturing variability requires them to bin the chips based on functionality & performance, which is how you get all these different models.

I don't see anything that indicates these values should be opposed. I've seen controversy over this before and to be honest it mostly seems to be people projecting their own idea of what the left thinks - that "white values&q

Any evidence at all that self-improvement is under attack, or are these all euphemisms for something else? Maybe "pick friends based on shared values" means "I wouldn't let my kids play with kids from the other side of t

> the Uighurs in China aren't treated worse than blacks in USA I'm gonna stop you there. At the very least you can speak up in the USA without getting disappeared.

Like trying to get five innocent black boys executed and maintaining his position to this day? And of course his reintroduction to politics was riding the birther movement, which was almost comically racist.

I'd say not only is fundamental, it's pretty much the only tool you have to start the analysis of an FP algorithm. If you want to analyze a naive sum algorithm for instance you do that by recursively applying the a ⊕ b = (a + b)(1

At least an American Samsung would be useful, if it means bringing back semiconductor manufacturing to the US. Better than having our brightest engineers work on copying each other's photo apps.

This is awesome, although a bit in the old sense of the word, since it's scary to see entire courses I've taken distilled into one result that I probably couldn't even attempt to prove now. aside: wonder why for group theory

Honestly what are you talking about. You can simulate for 100 years without finding a counterexample, but that doesn't make a proof. The whole point of math is to understand why things are true, not to just be satisfied that it seems t

The media indeed. It was them who told the GOP to try to put a woman who could not name a single supreme court case one step away from the presidency in 2008. The party of personal responsibility is not personally responsible for being seen

Like ∇^2 u = Δu = f? It's not really cryptic, it's taught in multivariable. And it's not done to look sophisticated, it's so that you can instantly recognize that it's Laplace, or Poisson, etc. If I tell you B = (dA

I'd say this is generally not true, at least in math. There's definitely poor notation and misnomers that come from tradition, but it's hardly deliberate as "obfuscation" implies.

A nice example is that Gauss realized in 1805 that Fourier transforms could be made less tedious by subdividing the problem (n=12=3*4 in his case), 160 years before Cooley-Tukey.

People don't want to see hateful shit in video games. You do not have god-given right to be shitty in a car game. Pull yourself up by the bootstraps and create your own community that tolerates hatred.

Columbus has been a point of contention for a while now. Regardless, corporations are not saying BLM because some tiny segment of the country thinks that. A majority of America supports the movement, and that's being reflected by PR no
