It is because most people don't know and don't care about the difference between free and open-source.

Most people paying money for software do, though.

And those will be made subscription based anyway.

I don't see how you can legislate away a move to subscriptions. That's not unintended consequences, that is an entirely foreseeable and direct consequence.

If this law comes, why would games not just go full-subscription and circumvent this?

That must be the thing that Terence Tao advertises in every podcast I watch with him in it.

I have not had problems with long goals. I let it chomp for 40 minutes on a proof in my custom theorem prover (xhigh fast), and it got there. Very happy with Codex, I ditched Claude for it.

I definitely wouldn't put math in my code I didn't understand just because Claude says so. I am not astonished that everyone agreed, that's why shit is going to hit the fan pretty badly pretty soon due to AI coding. There is

Lol. If Gowers sends you a piece of math he doesn't quite understand because he thinks that you might, that is something you celebrate.

You will see that in your link "charitable" is printed in bold. Yes, other "exempt purposes" are tacked onto that in US law, if that is reasonable I leave up to you. Given that the NRA counts as a non-profit, not sure th

Not sure why this would matter. You know that implication is directional, not symmetric, right? To be more explicit: Given that for-profits can be given tax-breaks for (hopefully) good reasons, what would be the reason to give non-profits t

I think the assumption about non-profits being altruistic is a reasonable one, because what would otherwise be the justification for giving them tax breaks? If the reality is different, then maybe there shouldn't be non-profits anymore

Looks like a typical machine learning paper to me. It cannot be understood unless you already kind of understand it. That is OK for communication with peers, but eventually I expect a "theory of" to be readable by anyone with a ma

The right use of AI requires stellar leadership, and to be honest, I don't think that kind of leadership exists. I am using AI just for myself, and the traps and pitfalls I encounter are so many. For example, I generate an article on a

I am still hearing about Monads, but is it not the case that they have well-known flaws? And that is the reason why algebraic effects are interesting, because they don't have these flaws?
