What you're saying is pretty accurate and I agree. But the problems you enumerate are ironically the best parts about learning JavaScript at the same time. Failing silently - it's nice to have 'incorrect' programs still

Only having a few productive hours during a day does not imply even distribution. You go even further and softly assume it's the first X hours that are productive. Doesn't sound likely.

It somewhat matches my experience too. Generally I'd say there's 3 classes of blocking: total block (twitter, fb), rate limiting (google), and general QoS downgrade (which seems so random that it might just be the infrastructure b

Would be helpful if you shared what your reads are like. Are they limited to a single customer or span the whole db? How fast do you need the "read-side" [or some portion of it] to be aware of the new writes? Also remember that th

The thing with me is that I'm not so bullish on health (or other) benefits inherent to exercise. So if I was to go out of my way and exercise i'd only do it to eat more. And yea walking around a room is fun, especially if you'

So you burn a total of 2600 kcal day and 700 is from the 10 minute exercise and walking meetings? Sounds like the exercise has to be super intense? Or tons of walking. Well I consider all non-bmr' burn exercise. I rarely even leave my

It's kind of hard (if you're not into exercise) to burn more than 400 daily. So given that I burn ~1580/day by default an extra 300 is not such a big incentive to exercise. It's just an extra small meal/snack.

Same, I might just add that the USB monitor thing (well, DisplayLink at least) is not as bad as one would expect. It's surprisingly efficient and 99.9% of the time you won't notice the difference. When playing full screen video it

I'd use cronometer.com everyday and try to always get the calorie counts right (didn't care so much about other metrics). My margin of error was around 50 calories/day (figured out by comparing with expected weight loss). The

I definitely want something that would solve that problem, but this is far from a decent solution. I think you need to go more abstract and consider other sources of 'presence' or activity and it's presentation. Some form of

We do definitely 'need' it. I think the bottleneck at the moment is technological, and slightly cultural. Basically we don't have an efficient way to run free open-source web services that could out-compete their commercial a

Well the whole point is unless you know they're an A you shouldn't really care about comparing them, so the investment terms and external factors are probably better indicators (like location) for making that decision.

What are you gonna use it for? Go seems to have a strong foothold in cloud-related projects (i.e. Docker, Flynn, many parts of CoreOS). So if you're in the same niche it's probably an okay choice even if only for community reasons
