Banking systems are publicly verifiable. If your balance suddenly changes, you're going to know about it. With electronic voting, any method of verifying your vote is incompatible with the principle of a secret ballot. (edit: additiona

What's the timeline like until I can buy(not pre-order) this? Edit: would also be wanting the ability to completely disable any 'cloud' functions. That's a real no-go for me.

I don't think so, though I don't know in practice I imagine there would be categories that aggregate the individual codes.

I believe it's for statistical purposes(if it's anything like death codes here in Aus). If there is an uptick in dolphin strikes, the Government(or some environmental management group) may do something about the dolphin problem.

Regulating IoT is going to be impossible when tiny little devices can be shipped undeclared. Even if it could be policed effectively it would destroy the economics of some of these cheaper devices. Instead, how about ISP supplied modems

I'm with you here. I can't understand why people are calling for regulations on IoT devices. Instead, how about ISP supplied modems/routers have sensible defaults(and have the admin password reset). Much more cost effective.

>If you need to rest your hand on it ... to understand how it works, that's a major fail in the design. It's literally a tactile indicator. Very intuitive by feel(which is its purpose).

Is this a warning shot in the Shadow Brokers/DNC battle? Snowden previously insinuated that the NSA had interfered with US ally's elections... Very unpleasant stuff, it's disturbing to see how far it goes.

Well, it depends on where you are. As far as I know, where I have lived most(Western Australia) it is not considered vandalism. This is the third result on Google for "vandalism chalk"(though it seems to have some mixed messages):

Cars are pretty well sized for fitting two people side by side(and the appropriate controls). 80 columns is a pretty good length for lines of text. I see no tyranny here.

It might be nice to use the front side for pages 1 to n/2, then print the remaining pages on the back side of the sheet, in reverse sheet order. eg: (1, 8), (2, 7), (3, 6), (4, 5) This has the downside that the middle consecutive pages
