I agree with you, but consider the possibility of donating the difference to a political organisation whose aim it is to eliminate shady behaviour by companies. There's a broader spectrum to donation than just donating to the poor.

Living in cities is already more efficient than the alternative. Having everything in close proximity to each other is huge for efficiency. Imagine how much more efficient it could be without cars. But yes, people living a rural life usuall

This is the fallacy of composition applied to aggregate demand. That's important to know about, but what others were talking about is the psychology of individual choices. There isn't any aggregation or composition happening there

This is a reasonable position to take, except the last paragraph is phrased too carelessly. Somebody who really cannot do any programming at all without a second person probably really is useless as a programmer , but most people will li

Nothing is ever non-obvious in hindsight in the social sciences ;) That said, I like that one way this can be read is that being a C-level executive is typically not about some inherent skill or talent. Instead, people simply grow into the

The terms are definitely overloaded and can differ subtly between vendors. Those "scalar-for-each-thread" instructions are prefixed v_ on AMD's GCN. The "v" doesn't stand for "scalar" ;)

This is largely true, but there remains the issue that there are some people who, for whatever reason, almost seem to go out of their way to assume bad intent and interpret what was said or written in the worst possible way. There is probab

I agree where there isn't inherently a stack. Many of the introductory examples of recursion are trivially transformed to an iteration in constant space. However, there are plenty of interesting cases where if you don't use recurs

Not every unbalanced tree is necessarily a degenerate situation. Syntax trees aren't necessarily balanced naturally, for example. (They typically are somewhat balanced, of course, but if you do have one that's unbalanced, there&#x

As a society we have already decided that manufacturers can't just configure the devices they sell however they feel like. One of the most obvious restrictions is on how they configure any radios. fouric is merely arguing that there sh

Playing devil's advocate, one could argue, especially in the case of WSL2, that it's a Windows subsystem that allows Linux to run particularly well by providing virtual devices etc which can be accessed from the Linux VM. It'

That's not actually a contradiction. Market doesn't mean capitalism, and socialism doesn't mean non-market. Market socialism is a thing, and the form of socialism that most of the more thoughtful socialists prefer.

It's not even about home office work necessarily, it's about whether there's a long-term culture of having remote conversation. The company I work for is old by tech standards, and has always had fairly distributed offices.
