Ecto is hands down my favorite part of the elixir ecosystem. It’s so elegant and the Lego blocks (query, schema, change set, repo) can be mixed and matched in different ways. I’ve even used schemas and change sets to validate API requests a

For our SaaS [1] we have a plug-in architecture. And each plugin has a concept called install constraints. They consist of app, tier, and the role of the user provisioning the account. Based on the right combination, certain plugins get aut

It doesn’t have to be growth vs reduction. It can be slower growth or let’s stay close to replacement rates? Others have listed why this will be bad.

wow, that’s really quite reductive. It sounds more like this might be a choice you feel strongly about but are projecting selfishness on to others? This can be a totally fine choice for someone to make personally (which I support), but also

But for the city centers that have disallowed cars, sure, as a pedestrian that's nice. But how about for restaurants needing supplies and others needing a vehicle to get in there? I actually like the idea of superblocks like they have

I came here to say the same. I will also be on a transatlantic flight on the 12th. Is there anything to be worried about with airplane electronics systems in flight, or is it more potentially on the side of "there might be flight delay

The pedestrian danger is a valid one and will be for a while (until more self driving cars come out, probably?) But in what way do they make for less pleasant cities? Wouldn't moving to electric vehicles all but get rid of noise pollut

Can you expand on this? Because the overwhelming number of use cases show that "driving to town" would be < 100 miles. And if you plugged in your car while you ran whatever errands you needed to (or could get 100 miles of range

Can you expand on this a bit? I am curious. Because most of the time people talk mostly about the fossil fuel impact (which will be greatly reduced in our lifetimes). But are you confirming my guess, that we would no longer be able to say c

Once we have a critical mass of electric vehicles and they become the default/norm, would that dismiss the argument that cars are bad for the environment? Of course there’s still some fossil fuel use (tires, some mining, etc) but overa

Haven't they been announcing Pros and Max's around December? I don't remember. If they're debuting them at WWDC I'll definitely upgrade my M1. I don't even feel the need to, but it's been 2.5 years.

The M1 Max that I have is easily the greatest laptop I've ever owned. It is fast and handles everything I've ever thrown at it (I got 32 GB RAM), it never, ever gets hot, I've never heard a fan in 2+ years (maybe a very soft

With WebRTC, aren't the servers just used for initial handshake/signaling? The rest of the traffic would be P2P so not a lot of capacity needed except for the initial handshake.

Good to look at Keno and what the vega-lite team has done to "standardize" on a format and use that. (for graphs) That's what we did. We really should consider open sourcing our stuff, it's just too ugly at the moment.

For the record I wasn’t disparaging the maintainers. In Tesla’s situation, they need more people with a maintenance mindset to sustain their company. SpaceX has a nice mix of both.

But a company isn’t a democracy. They don’t have a right to protest it. If they as employees refuse to work (what they’re paid to do), then the employer has every right to fire them. They aren’t forming a union or something.

These are absolutely not the same. All those media are asymmetrical. The host isn't broadcasting a show tailored to each individual. Social media is tailored to the individual and also two-way. Completely different.
