My dad used to be a school bus driver (among many other things, typical immigrant story). One of the benefits of the down time is that since the hours are weird (2-3 hours in the morning, and then 2-3 hours again, 7-8 hours later in the day

Yeah it would have to be some kind of browser redirect dance using stuff like oauth. The current system of generating keys and setting custom permissions will leave room for error.

Interesting link bait: > The encrypted chat app beloved by Elon Musk and foreign dissidents has been embraced by federal government workers, DOGE and military planners. It’s beloved by millions that care about privacy and security. Is it

I found that Copilot sucked for elixir. But Cursor has been much better with suggestions for elixir codebases. Probably still not as good as JS/Python but way way way better than Copilot.

I'm of two minds. I currently use 3 MCPs regularly (Atlassian, Git, and GitHub). And I suppose if GitHub or Atlassian actually hosted first-party MCP endpoints for their services, we probably wouldn't need to self-host? But I woul

What's shocking to me is that they deploy "hundreds of thousands" of self-hosted apps? I wonder what percentage of overall NextJS apps are on Vercel, and what percentage aren't.

I’m going to see if I can use this in combination with our JIRA MCP to read a bug ticket’s “steps to reproduce” to see if it translate those steps to actually reproduce those actions. I don’t understand the hate against MCP. It is truly exc

What’s wrong with this analogy? It’s a common set of APIs/protocols that includes a way to share data, capabilities, etc. That’s pretty much exactly what USB is.

Unrelated to the topic, but I worked with Jim (blog author) over a decade ago and he was an awesome guy to work with. Real standup human being altogether, in addition to writing good ruby. Jim, if you're lurking around, hi, hope all is

Yeah I always use the analogy of “when I’m in the neighborhood, I’ll take care of that too” for related tickets. I’ve had it update my tickets (like, leave a comment summarizing the code changes, transition the ticket.) And I’ve described o

It’s already changed how I work in the last week that I discovered it. I’ve used the Atlassian MCP to help organize my backlog and consolidate tickets into epics, and to leave comments on tickets based on summaries of commits, and even tran

We use Tailscale for our WireGuard, which further integrates with SSO. So it’s a double whammy. But Tailscale ssh has the identity stuff built in too.

How does this compare to Tailscale SSH? Will the two eventually be combined in some way? I think tailscale SSH requires you to run their daemon on the server, correct?

Setting aside the obvious shock of the actual subject, I'm going to try the herculean task of bringing this back to being a HN-related topic... My guess is that there is someone named Jeffrey Goldberg in the NatSec team (or high up, it
