I have some issues with my arch and toes and my custom orthotics really help with that. I only really hang them off the side of the bed. Sometimes they are on the bed though. It also seems a natural progression from walking around the house

There are millions (billions?!) of bacteria in your mouth, bathroom, kitchen sink, asshole, etc. Every time you release a fart you are spraying countless bacteria into your pants.
