My father died of colon cancer at 52, so I've been getting colonoscopies every 3-5 years since I was 22. Yes, that's really early, but in the span between age 30-33, I grew a large polyp. My doctor removed it and it turned out non

Is the shortage perhaps because all the job postings require a CISSP? I'm an architect and a coder. If I spend any time at all getting certs, they will be cloud-related.

I've been observing Marc for years now. He is a pump-and-dump extraordinaire. Any and every technology he can shill to the average (dumb) American to squeeze a penny (or their life savings) out of them he will do it. Rinse and repeat.

Real estate attorneys are flat-rate for the transaction. Around $500, possibly a doc prep fee on top of $50-$100. If your employer offers legal services as a benefit home purchases are often included.

I don’t know. At least for men, you can tell just by walking into a coffee shop. It’s the difference between the barista greeting you with a smile or a frown.

Is this a full, standalone deployment including GPT-3 (or whatever version) or just a secured frontend that sends data to GPT hosted outside the enterprise zone? Edit: Uses Azure OpenAI as the backend

You can pick any one but you’ll find they are all very similar. One may have an edge on certain services but they all have them (or will for new capabilities). https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/architecture&#

I knew it. I went years without getting covid. It wasn't until I stood in a hotel lobby with some children sitting nearby that I caught it.

That may just be the difference in labeling it "climate change" instead of "global warming." Global warming describes an abnormal process, whereas climate change is something that empirically happens whether humans contr

I'm not here to have a Death of the Author debate. Aristotle said the mark of an educated mind is the ability to entertain a thought without accepting it. I just thought the parallel was particularly insidious in the context of AI.

This reminds me of the unabomber manifesto. He claimed that 'have a problem to solve' was not the rule, that technology advances for its own end. Humans adapt to changing technology rather than technology advancing to support huma

No. My comments are about drugs, misdemeanor crimes (e.g., theft), and homelessness. All run rampant in SF. I only attributed the first two to policing. Homelessness by itself is not a crime. I guess you feel otherwise for you to interpret

You can’t separate the two. CA has made drugs and misdemeanor crimes effectively un-policeable. Billions of dollars in taxpayer funds have been given to nonprofits to improve homeless conditions but they’ve only gotten worse while the nonpr

It’s not necessarily the tech workers. 42% of US existing home purchases were from foreign investors (defined as non-residents). That’s for the US as a whole, and it stands to reason that outsized investment is happening in high demand area
