I guess I don't hobnob with the wealthy enough.

I don't really assume that someone's rich because they have a nice watch, either... or that they're not rich because they're not wearing a watch.

The article's not very clear, though -- the implication to me seems to be that Facebook wants the information, but you're still free to use pseudonyms on the service itself to keep your name private. Some Japanese people have major problems

I wish the Apollo 11 site (LEM, flag, plaque, footprint) were off-limits. Everything should still be perfectly preserved up there, and it should stay that way without lots of rovers going all over it.

Except that watches are kind of going out of style, with all of the electronic devices people have. Perhaps the US version would be a nice smartphone, a nice MP3 player, and nice, non-Apple earbuds.

Maybe it's that they didn't need school, rather than dropping out of school that made them rich.

What doesn't happen to most people? Job offers? I think that's untrue. Look at the jobs you're being offered -- how's the environment? The pay? Benefits? Long-term prospects? Where would you live, with your parents? Or do you want to move o

Yeah, the website. I don't know what could be causing it, but it's almost like everything is super antialiased. Edit: No Asia/Tokyo time zone?

It would be neat if there were some kind of rotation on the front page to show hotels offering deals or low prices for people who don't necessarily know where they want to go for vacation, or are open to ideas.

Using Opera 11 on Windows 7 x64, 19" screen at 1920 x 1080. There's something terribly wrong with your text; it's very fuzzy and indistinct to the point that it actually gave me a headache while I was reading to find out what TweetRoost doe

I like that they got rid of the giant submit box at the top that I always mistook for a search box. The new layout seems to be pretty efficient, too. The bar on the right effectively acts as a RSS feed, letting you see stuff as it comes in

I would convince my parents to buy tons of Apple stock. I would ask that girl on a date and follow through. I would get a cochlear implant sooner.

This is neat, but kind of ugly on Opera 11. Mouseover yields a grey block that doesn't conform to the rounded block's boundaries.

No subway out where I live. Plenty of older people use them because of the hills/mountains out here. You can see them on the buses that take bikes, or the non-JR train lines that let you take bikes.

You can buy regular bicycles with little electric motors on them here in Japan for about $1,000. That seems a lot more reasonable than completely redesigning the bicycle...

I have no idea, but I've noticed that people messing with the subject line screws up conversations. My mother does this a lot.

I only write e-mails like chapter books when people write e-mails with 20 questions. I don't mind length as much as I mind lack of organization, clarity, and/or conciseness. So many people just write e-mails as a stream of consciousness, th

I dislike when people arbitrarily change the subject line every other reply because it screws with gmail's conversations. This wouldn't be as bad if gmail let you MERGE conversations as you wished.

It sounds like you're trying to sell both the service AND the software. Why not just offer to sell the software to anyone who wants it for X dollars, and for the people who don't want to host it themselves, run it for them for Y/mo?

I am. I come up with a dumb little site idea and decided to implement it using PHP and the 960.gs system, both things I want more practice with. Also tried out some new (to me) Photoshop techniques to try to modernize my design style.

Another mistake: not clearly linking your book in the article in case people who read the article were interested in the book. I spent five minutes skimming up and down trying to find a link to the book because I was interested, but I could

I feel bad saying this, but I'd also want some kind of guarantee or something that the service wouldn't shut down in a few years, since you mention that you did this before and shut it down.

I tried operating a normal site using AdSense; it got a decent amount of traffic before Google killed my AdSense account. I never got any of the money out of it, Google never responded. This was about six, seven years ago now. To this day,

If Google doesn't screw you over and shut down your account for some reason without telling you why or giving you someone to talk to, then yes, you should be in the clear. I'm just in the bitter, vocal minority here, though.
