I'm a bit torn on whether an advanced type system like TS produces better api designs for libraries or whether it promotes bad designs that need advanced typings to be safe and sound. I feel typescript is in many ways closely tied to J

Yeah its good, one point that my little experience has shown is that production containers cannot be used for development since they lack all the tooling and are designed pretty bare bones hence the focus is on allowing customising developm

Deleting code shouldn't be this hard, by logging how often a piece of code is being invoked in production one can start planning purges of unused dead code. It has to be done carefully but by no means it is so complex that it shouldn&#

For finding and deleting dead code anyone can get up and running by using something called tombstones, marking pieces of code as dead and then logging their invocations to see if they are really being used and if yes then how so. It is much

Decision table's are really good at representing complex rules, in a language with pattern matching u can convert a nested if else block to a decision table that is much more readable, as an example see https://github.com&#x

Note that the book iss not a Haskell tutorial, it's rather a design book that can be applied to any language. The author merely choose Haskell for its expressivity. Haskell is used in a lot of places, as an example Facebook's Sigm

Earlier we used to have multiple web apps with separate databases, now we are using a single web app that can connect to different databases and configuration based on the subdomain, so far it's worked great, having a single web app re

Adding types at the start of a years long project is going to help massively later on at some slight friction early on. Static typing makes explicit connections between code that are usually implicit in dynamic languages, these connections

Agreed the cost aspect of Moore's law may continue to remain true, especially with chiplets with varying fab nodes and 3d architectures. Wright's law will also bring down costs as lower nm nodes mature. But as mentioned in the co

There's a fine balance between over-engineering and under-engineering, right now I'm working on an old piece of software that has been designed without any significant engineering process, while things remain easy to understand an
