Psychotherapy does in fact help with schizophrenia. It's been a while since I was steeped in reading sources that backs this up, but one thing I came across was the notion that therapy alone is actually more effective than antipsychoti

That's just a legacy of the strategy where NT native APIs were considered a private API, and you were meant to code against Win32 instead, to target both NT and 9x. Syscalls are in ntdll, layered above that is kernel32 (today kernelbas

As I understand it, it's also extremely rare for a prosecutor to admit mistakes and that a convicted person is innocent, even when it is sufficiently proven, they tend to double down on bad convictions. In this case the prosecutor said

In plain old C it's very common to roll your own atomic reference counting. I've done it many many times. I'm surprised you haven't seen it done. GCC and MSVC both provide intrinsics to wrap synchronization primitives su

The rust notion of lifetimes is one of the most c++ things I've ever seen. I've always assumed it grew out of the same culture that produced c++ smart pointers and RAII. > I can't say I've ever seen someone manually i

Good C code will select a rigid set of patterns, carefully chosen to maximize safety, and stick to them. It makes a lot of the bug prone patterns stand out. This is somewhat like what a higher level compiler can produce, but more manual. It

The async I/O model is one that NT had for all that time. The idea of using a ring data structure to do faster syscalls is what's new. io_uring represents both a pivot to an NT style I/O model (true async instead of readiness

Is that relatively new? Maybe my info is out of date? Maybe last year people were saying that Bambu intercepts your models, that it's not private. As I google, they say that your camera feed also goes to the public internet.

TPU is a popular 3d printed material that is more flexible. You could probably adapt the design to use it in places.

One criticism of Bambu that I've heard is that sending prints over the network requires the public internet, which is not true with Prusa, which can do local-only network printing.

If I read TFA correctly it looks like they're doing codegen to IL (which is analogous to Java bytecode, but for .net), which would probably mean your rust code is subject to GC? It seems like you would get rid of performance benefits o

My anecdotal experience with mediatek wifi is it's a very flakey, low quality brand. That might be more of the reason. The firmware is probably unpolished, rushed, not maintained by competent people.
