You should change the link to put it in quotes, out of fairness. Less exciting then, though.

I don't really understand why you, as a consumer, would care about a company's hardware failure rate. Sure, that hurts their bottom line, but as long as you have a working Xbox 360, shouldn't you be happy? It's not really analogous at all t

I thought "hypertext reference" was common knowledge. Or was I the only one who read HTML books for fun back in the mid 90's?

It's not really a word, but it basically is. Just like irregardless. Language moves on, no matter how much it annoys us.

'Cause Google was the first company to ever think of putting the cursor in the only input[type=text] on the page onload.

Kinda fun looking. Seems like it relies pretty heavily on singing well and on pitch without accidentally changing key. One hour of American Idol'll point out how few people have that ability.

The speakers don't pay for their ticket, so it's similar to a $6k paycheck, assuming you actually wanted to go to TED.

That's actually not quite true. Over some limit (maybe around 20), upvotes stop counting directly to karma.

I don't entirely get it, I don't think. Sure, it's useful for videos in Youtube, but how's it beat permalinks?

Ubuntu's a fine OS, but it's not really to be compared to Windows or OS X for general purpose computing, mostly because it's not popular enough to merit serious 3rd party investment. Wake me up when I can apt-get install photoshop-cs3 PS: I

Skinny columns are a hallmark of newspapers, mostly because they're a lot easier to read. I'm not arguing that the design was great here, but if you look at CNN's stories, they're not all that wide, either.

Eh, it's happened before. Mike Stoppelman's gotten his looks talked about on Valleywag, as has Ben Ling. Pretty people getting called pretty: it's not sexism, it's a compliment.

The downmods are misplaced. You're absolutely right mathwise here, you're just missing a heretofore unspoken detail. The assumption is that in an angel or VC round you'll create new shares for the investor to own. If there were no new sh

I know. That'd give a post-money valuation of $51k, though, giving you a little less than 2% of the company in the end.

$1,000 for 2% implies a $49k pre-money valuation. Either way, Matt's math is off.

Some of my very best friends never signed my high school yearbook--it's filled with signatures of people I guessed I'd never see again after graduation. You don't really need records (digital or otherwise) to know who your real friends are.
