I'm lukewarm on Carlin being remembered for that (edit: that alone). His comedy is a lot more intelligent than a list of dirty words might imply.

I'm trying to figure out whether your "Defiantly." was an accidental typo or an intentionally ironic nod to digg/youtube style comments where nobody actually knows how to spell "definitely." edit: that is, http://digg.com/odd_stuff/D_E_F_I

I'm perfectly willing to back up my statements. The general problem we're looking at is that fnid's (and the accompanying closures) are manufactured all over the place, and most of them don't need to stay around for very long. However, ther

He's not asking why it's broken, he's asking why he has to tolerate it being broken. It's not that hard to fix.

There's a difference between making revenue and making a profit. While I won't argue your assertion that it's easy to find revenue sources when you're popular, I'd appreciate seeing some hard evidence that it's also easy to pay all the bill

The obvious question being, has Matt, as a gambling type, figured out a way to place a wager on the bursting side of the bubble? Basically, like a short on Web 2.0. If so, I might want in. You know, to hedge my bets...

The making of: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=417302 edit: This got downmodded? Really? I thought it was at least of marginal interest.

If your market was thought to be niche or relatively inconsequential, I think it's pretty fair to say the entrance of a major player validates your hypothesis that it was a big deal. You're only screwed if you can't out-execute them. This s

RCRD LBL, Normative, WeMix. I'm psyched for all these techy twists on record labels. The music industry is due for a distribution shake up like mainstream media is experiencing now with blogs, vlogs, and podcasts. It's just an issue of who'

It's not so much as failing of CSS as a technology as it is an indication that CSS is not the language designers want it to be. What really sucks is that it's actually pretty close to that language. Everything's fine until you hit the cross

Joel has also elsewhere that he's a big believer in paying salesmen incentives in cash (via commissions), so I don't think he'd disagree with you there.

Most of the lectures are on the ad hoc side. I don't recall ever seeing any of the notes (Sussman and Hanson prefer actual overhead slides to Powerpoint) going online officially, although there might be some student notes? It's been called

BTW, sickest class ever. Most of the dev team at Dropbox took the course. It's a mindbender, plus you get to hang out with Gerry Sussman. Pretty much every lecture is spent examining a different programming approach and demonstrating that i
