Sorry, what's the alternative? Oh, right. Fossil fuels. Or windmills with a terrible carbon footprint thanks to the concrete and deforestation. Not to mention the impact on the landscape, and the fact that they kill a ton of birds. Or

Hopefully this will turn out awesome and the world can finally accept and use nuclear power for good.

Yeah, or you just put a nuclear reactor on the planes. If it fits in a truck, it fits in a plane.

The big ticket thing is generating and uploading the galleries. For example I was photographing a horse show last weekend, and I have around 3000 pictures and 30 participants. I used to do that "by hand" with a SaaS, it would take

Not a software company, but photographer. I use PHP and bash for all of my automation, and python for the UIs.

Clearly we didn't have the same experience at school. I'd never go back, not for anything. I'm glad you had a better time.

Most of my work, in two very different lines of work, is bound to strict hard deadlines. As I mentioned, those are events, reports to external entities, billing etc... I'd say 75% of my dev work is hard deadlines.

It wasn't always the people in my case. Reasons I quit my jobs, in no particular order: - immoral projects I didn't want to work on - personal life decisions (long leave) and boring project - company closed - couldn't stand b

What's wrong with .cpp extension?

I would rather have deadlines than give estimates. A deadline is a clear moment in time when the feature is needed. There's a reason behind it. "We need to be ready for event X", "Next billing period is in a week".

Same here. I had been using eclipse and codeblocks for years, yet was forced to use this thing. It's probably super nice for beginners, because it removes a ton of friction. But why force people?

Security updates, you know... Apparently it's over this fall, so can't save sensitive data on that. Though I agree: I can't think of someone who _needs_ a $1000 smartphone.

On my camera, the viewfinder (the thing you use to look "through" the lens) is a screen. You can alter dioptry, which, AFAIK, is the equivalent of "moving the screen back". Essentially, you can have the screen visually a

I've never had much luck using jpegoptim. In most cases it's only removing the metadata, which isn't much on high-res files. Guetzli is nice, if you don't have too many images to recompress (quite slow): https:/&#x

I used to write xamarin apps for a living. It was great, until it became terrible. Nowadays I don't develop mobile apps anymore. Last time I checked, Xamarin Forms was half decent to build simple apps, but you have to be pretty flexibl
