Yes, you would know what it is at that moment. You would not however know if what it is at that moment in time is actually correct, or what the expected shape is, without deconstructing the entire function that is the receiver of the data.

Having worked with large Clojure codebases I found the Malli/Spec duct-taping of types to be a poor man's statically typed language, especially with the developer experience being quite poor. While it will runtime validate, I stil

I'm sure they meant an actual statically typed language. I agree that dynamic languages are fun and productive ... until the codebase becomes big and complex, and then not knowing what shape any data is quickly becomes a nightmare to u

So how does your IDE pick up on the tooling inside the VM? E.g if you build Python projects, how does it pick up the Python executable, .venv, etc? Or if PHP, then the PHP runtime, or if C then its stuff ... etc? If you install these on you

Probably a stupid question, but why don't we encase the (undersea) cable in some metal container or something so that it would not be so easy to break? Is it due to economics? Is the constant fixing in the end cheaper than making it ha

I feel the influencer crowd is overblowing the actual utility of LLM's massively. Kind of feels akin to the "cryptocurrency will take over the world" trope 10 years ago, and yet .. I don't see it any crypto in my day to

I tend to agree. I also think that the vast majority of code out there is quite frankly pretty bad, and all that LLM's do is learn from it, so while I agree that LLM's will help make a lot more software, I doubt it would increase

And that makes this, what, the 100th package management solution for Python? A big reason why Python package management sucks is because there are as many package managers as there are frameworks in JavaScript. Nobody ever knows what is the

LinkedIn where instead of a HR influencer cargo cult black void there would be honest feedback about companies (and maybe employees?) where we could all figure out how to best work together? One can dream.

Yeah, also in Northern Europe. Here in Estonia kids as young as 5 years old even go to kindergarten on their own. They take a bus and are just fine. Seems to me the helicopter parenting is mostly a thing in the U.S.

I like to keep things as vanilla as I can because historically using languages that transpile into other languages has been quite horrible in my experience (for debugging reasons among many other things).

Similarly, my favorite web stack these days is good ol' PHP for the API and HTMX for the front-end. It keeps everything simple and all the complexity in one place. Love it.

I figure we'd all just go to the country side, where people still have houses with chimneys that use wood for heat, and hope we fit.

There is a RFC on it ( https://wiki.php.net/rfc/function-composition ) which I'd love if it made it through. Until then Crell's FP library is a good option ( https://github.com/Crell/fp ).

I wonder if construction workers also expect someone to give them free hammers and nails if they want to work on hobby projects. I doubt that. So maybe then software engineers shouldn't be so stuck up about not paying for their tools e
