I agree. I feel like through Github the Ruby community forks, argues, and resolves problems faster than most Python projects do. Maybe I don't read enough mailing lists to see the angry posts, but maybe a bit more contention would be good t

But again, the consequence of a driverless car is that the steering wheel could be removed and fitting 4 strangers comfortably in a car becomes much easier. I would argue that carpooling/ridesharing would increase and ultimately decrease th

http://www.stevejobsthelostinterview.com/ I guess it's doing a limited theater run for awhile, in SF and Austin. I saw it last week in SF and Cringely showed up and did a Q&A afterwards, he mentioned wanting to have the interview seen

Great idea, I've had something like this in my head for awhile too. My initial thoughts would be: -custom groups or more groups; what group is this person attached to. -change the "where" I met this person, for back entering people. Everyon

My current idea is a bit arty, something like: style for a month. For 30 days, each day, scrape yesterday's image from http://theimpossiblecool.tumblr.com/ or http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/ (or just pick one at random) and use the

Definitely. All of the "sync vim plugins from github" scripts + combined with Pathogen have made using and trying plugins much easier. Github + better visibility have perhaps raised the overall quality of plugins by making it easier to copy

I enjoy Zed's enthusiasm. While people seem to argue with him frequently or vice versa, he is prolific in his books and software and is definitely helping improve things.

Great, I just signed up and sent a letter to my mom! I've been meaning to look more into a good service like this, because I hate "writing" letters. I would love to keep in touch with my relatives and send out updates, but I am quite lazy.

I was thinking of building something like this recently to test my Django + background worker skills. http://cutycapt.sourceforge.net/ is one of better screen capture engines I found for OSX. Most are based on Webkit/QT and Xvfb for Unix

In a related anecdote, through Reddit and /r/pittsburgh, I've found about a dozen or so local SC players. We've formed a mailing list and I'm holding a viewing party at my apartment next week. We're still looking currently for a local bar w

This has been a frustration of mine as well. In the Convention over Configuration mindset, there doesn't seem to be a "best" convention for Django apps. You can install a django package easily through pip, but then does it need urls added,
