Alfred makes QuickSilver run for its hype. It may not be as customizable as QuickSilver but it does the job very well and a lot nicer than QuickSilver.

Why not Facebook.com? It was one of the social network sites that stood out in terms of its clean and simple interface and still todate they've kept improving the many UI elements and have brought some nice touch to some of the UI elements

I second that...CodeIgniter is really nice with no fuss...Rails is nice too unless you get familiar with it...in the mean time CodeIgniter is your rescue. Simple framework that's quite flexible.
