Thanks for the ALT-key hint. I hadn't found that piece of information anywhere else, so I was trying to edit the two panels using dconf-editor. I got them placed in each corner on the right side (my screen is much wider than it is tall), bu

They reflect the polls, so they also tell you that the polls didn't have the same choices. The two sets of data ought to be shown in the same graph, really. Edit: I have now joined the two years in one graph, and plot the percentages to mak

Here is a graph of this poll: http://koldfront.dk/misc/hn/database2011/data.png ... and one of the 2010 poll: http://koldfront.dk/misc/hn/database2010/data.png (Updated every ~4 hours currently; I will be fading out the update rate.)

I like fvwm - http://fvwm.org/ - I can change the size of windows on all sides, and the width of the borders is easily configurable. (Everything else is as well, but those are the things I particularly like over other window managers I ha

I have always been fond of this description: "Picasso didn't start with painting women with three eyes and square breasts. He knew how to paint a cow."

There are arguments for and against tabs and spaces. ... and if you don't want to rehash those arguments, jwz has a nice summary: http://www.jwz.org/doc/tabs-vs-spaces.html

the name "next-gen sequencing" is unfortunate; what shall we call the generation after this? XP? 2000? 7?

Uhm, the definition of a linear function is that f(a+b)=f(a)+f(b) and f(n·a)=n·f(a) (i.e. additivity and homogeneity). Maybe you are thinking by a first-degree polynomial, which is a straight line when graphed? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki

Selling to Sun would not seem to me to be a move directed by such careful consideration. Hindsight is 20-20, of course, but still - I don't remember thinking of it as a good move for the future of MySQL at the time.

R ( http://www.r-project.org/ ) draws really nice graphs - in case you want something scripted that is better looking than Gnuplot, and less hideous than Excel.

I would like to browse the slides, but I am not going to create yet-another-account on a website-I-don't-care-to-use to access the "Get file"-link. Why do people use such websites instead of simply posting a PDF?

Thanks for the links and clarification. The page on browser.urlbar.richResults says: "Has an effect in * Mozilla Firefox (nightly builds from 2007-11-29 to 2007-12-17)" So I guess you need to do what it says under "Background" to get rid of

Is that a preference that I need to add, or did you mean browser.urlbar.maxRichResults? No, setting maxRichResults to 0 totally breaks the bar (no completion at all when typing.)

I don't have any secrets in my bookmarks, but I'd like the awesomebar to be turned off (i.e. just get simple url-completion.) Thanks for the tips!
