You should get yourself a nice dish antenna. They are cheap and allow for a lot of fun projects. I sourced a free 10-foot dish with motor (to adjust angle) not long ago. Its gonna be used as a backyard radio telescope of sorts. :)

Amazing project! 1. What are your plans for it? Aside from high altitude balloons. 2. Do you plan to turn this into a sort of "shield" add on? 3. What will you work on after this project is done?

:D I'm looking for potential new open source projects. Knowing about the software and its use helps me figure out if its doable (for me).

I met my wife on ICQ in the year 1998. My marriage happened because ICQ allowed me to connect with her. I would not have met her otherwise. :)

Facebook sure adds value. It connects people. Friendships, marriages, partnerships, businesses, and more exist because of facebook. I am not a user but the value it provides is real. Otherwise people would not use it (Google+).

Would you please expand this point: Also, you leave out (3) the very wide group of people who are neither particularly popular nor perceived as geeks/nerds.

Culturally there are two main groups: 1. Popular or "cool" people. Anyone who is not "book smart". 2. Nerds, geeks, etc. People considered to be smart. There are people who somehow manage to belong to both sides. But its

I share the same belief. It is a powerful motivator. It attracts others into the open source community. But we must be careful when dealing with beliefs and legal matters. I can't call asimuv an open source project because I do not mee

I feel that the company follows an open source belief rather than a model. When you say this: When I think about our company I do think of it as an open source company. It confirms that some of us might share the same feeling.

In my experience there is also a group of people that simply don't care about exact definitions or legal implications. They have this overly simplistic view that having access to the source code is all there is to it to be "open

My experience says that the issue is not differences, but bad architectural decisions. Most applications out there are glorified CRUDs. They are perfectly serviced by SQL databases. NoSQL fits a smaller set of systems whose scope is mostly
