Very nice, but bare in mind they didn't really make it for $10,000, thats what the salaries for 9 people for 4 days of work would be. (and even then, they only had 3 real people doing the work on the site, the other 6 people were doing PR,

I must admit I wouldn't be using your search when Google has flash search support. But as you can see below, licensing your technology to other companies would be a big step. If only you had it launched 6 months ago you would be in a better

Wow that sucks! You build your name online with great resources and boom - gone. Sure he will recover, and it is kind of his fault for using a trademark in his domain - but it seems Jack Daniels have probably done it to get the traffic!!

I like the site and cart setup, but the "we will reserve your item while you checkout" model is already used at most e-commerce sites, although your info on how many are being reserved is public. (plus the time limit is likely shorter) Stil

Ruby is a nice language, its known for not being the fastest language, but its still very nice...its currently my favourite web language. Or maybe even PHP? The problem with PHP normally is people jump in without any previous programming ex

Obviously I like Physical keyboards more, but I would prefer a bigger screen (i.e. iPhone) if I was given the choice. I don't have much of a problem with the iPhones on-screen keyboard...

Wow I'm sorry, but that was a pretty bad article, it seemed like the author knew little about the subject? First of all, it said rails doesn't scale. This is so inaccurate on so many levels. Mainly because everything scales. Obviously for s

Cool! Though, this will be one of those features which is only useful in years to come when Firefox 4 and IE9 supports it, sadly. But once it has a wide audience it will be an amazing feature!

Yes, don't try to charge for this, you will get nowhere fast.. Giving away a few hundred Pro accounts may get you so far, but as soon as you stop you will come to a brick wall - I can't see people paying for this. Though I do like the idea

Slicehost rock! The only thing I can find bad about them is the pricing above 1GB RAM VPSs, but apart from that its a rock solid service with great staff! Cannot recommend them enough....

Personally I hate the idea of building software with the intention to sell it for as much as possible, as soon as possible. You will just end up with software which feels unloved. Plus you will treat the project as a job and will likely not

While I agree, it seems if this goes through, ICANN will be checking every application, you could never get it. I hate this idea,it is causing more of a problem than its trying to fix! At my calculations (likely wrong), if the maximum domai

I have no real idea how search engines work when they index a page, but I would assume they do not execute any of the Javascript, just grab the text based file from the server and analyze it. (does anyone have any insight into this?) So I w

You've gotta remember, Twitter is in a very sticky situation at the moment! One one hand, they know their architecture isn't perfect and will be rebuilding it to cope with more users. But on the other hand - they are a small team which is t

As people have mentioned - who cares if it exists, everything exists in some shape and if it didn't exist, it probably doesn't have a market anyway! If you can do it better, you can succeed. (though don't try, for example, to create a mail

PHP can allow you to be very sloppy, I'm not sure I would recommend it. Although you do need some way of learning in-depth MySQL, rails makes it too easy, and you probably won't be using Rails forever...

I have never understood peoples thoughts about which languages scale better than others, because all web languages do the same thing - process data and return it to the user. The only thing you need to worry about is caching and sessions, b
