I've been thinking about your comment for 20 minutes now, and still don't understand what you mean — what do google/apple, and 37signals/twitter, have in common (business model wise)? And with the "mom & pop" stuff, I was just referring

Charging for stuff is the "mom 'n' pop" way of doing things; if you want to get big, that's going to be extraordinary hard. Youtube, Digg, Facebook, Myspace, etc, none of those would be as big as they are today if they charged users. Howeve

I prefer it on my own server, but also a "status" blog at wordpress/blogger/etc. Then you get both the benefits — full control over your blog, and a way to communicate with your users when the main site goes down! :)

Is it just me, or does Cappuccino over-complicate things a bit? I'm sure if I fluently knew Objective-C better it'd look easier, but it still looks like a ton of code...

The only problem I see with this kind of thing is it uses the same CPU as flash (FF3.1b3 and Safari4b1), and Flash is pretty slow on OSX anyway!

Twitter has a massive future...I just hope they continue to open up their API (public XMPP, etc.) so developers can tap into the ever growing resource! I'm not a big fan of the billion webapps created everyday which uses Twitter in some way

The right to violate copyright is part of our human rights? Now I'm an occasional pirate (mainly TV, since I'm not in the US), but these guys are bonkers; I know pirating is wrong, however these guys seem to think that nobody should have th

By the way, I was chatting to Jason the other day about the tipping/bounty feature: "So far the tipping results in 2-10x the amount of response... so clearly it works. Give it time! :-)" Maybe it was worth re-creating Yahoo's servi

I think the multiple versions are daft, there should be two versions — Home, and Pro. You're not giving people who can afford it the choice of a more feature filled (or in this case, less limited) OS, you're just giving the people who can't

Match.com started a free site to get plentyoffish's traffic, so plentyoffish starts a paid site to go after some match.com traffic, it's a pretty smart move in my opinion. From what I can tell, while free and paid dating sites are largely t
