It’s still possible to have circular dependencies in microservices. There is normally nothing stopping service A calling B and B calling A except common sense and discipline. In fact I would say it’s MORE difficult to prevent circular micro

But then why not just introduce a rule: Django ‘apps’ can only talk to each other via pure Python dicts like an interface? (rather than sharing models)? This situation is a necessary conceptual step before decoupled micro services and far f

I think the end game will be that the domain part of a URL will become optional so that it is valid to enter just a TLD in the browser and the company that owns that TLD can redirect. So http://google would be a valid URL that r

But interestingly that was not the case for Python which is definitely in the top 5 most popular languages today. I wonder how/why Python accomplished this without any corporate backer?

Sometimes storing in UTC is simply not correct. For example a shop opening time. The shop opens 10am local time, whether DST or not. Their opening time is 10am local time all year but their UTC opening time actually changes depending on the

I think the problem is individuals treating real estate as a risk free asset (it’s not) and our cultural acceptance of retail investors placing highly leveraged bets (via mortgages) on those assets. If you have a bad portfolio (100% real es

But the security hole is not that you can access someone else’s email messages.. it’s that you can do ‘I forgot my password’ flow for accounts associated with an email address that was previously owned by someone else!

I do genuinely believe a lot of things are like this in the software industry: especially as it is a relatively young industry. You put it very nicely, we are still in the process of oscillating around the optimum ways of doing things.

This article signals to me that we may have reached ‘peak microservice’ and should now expect a flood of blog posts extolling the virtues of monoliths and lots of industry effort to combine microservices into self-contained monoliths.

Yes, this is the straightforward ‘collaborative filtering’ algorithm. I suppose the line between ‘algorithm’ and AI/ML is not well defined though. At what point does a technique become ‘AI’? I don’t know a good answer.
