Was that intended to be a serious response? "I know what people really want even if they say they want something else"? People being forced into cities quantitatively proves they want to be in cities?

You are generalizing your little bubble to the world at large. Lots of people don't want to live or work in a large city.

The parent post did not imply anything of the sort. It was explicitly and clearly comparing the severity of fires, not the frequency.

You don't want the vehicle to look show room ready. You want the people inside the vehicle to be unharmed. The best way to achieve that is for the vehicle to absorb the forces of the impact. Thus making it not look showroom ready.

I hate the "you are a shill" retorts too, but damn if your response doesn't make it look like they are correct in this case.

You completely missed the point. How many people died when the tesla caught fire? This is a prime example of the tesla being safer, and people are using it to pretend it is less safe.

You really think pulling the "you are too dumb to understand my bullshit" card is effective? Javascript is used to make changes to the dom in response to the user doing things. User clicks button, stuff changes. Have you ever a

You don't need a VPN, pretty much any server running postgresql is also running sshd.

I'm old. I know that there was no postgresql 4. The first release of postgresql was 6, and what I said was accurate as of the release of version 6, in 1997 or 1998.

And literally zero of the web developers and designers I know use OS X. This is why a single person's social circle isn't a useful indicator of global marketshare.

Acting like java or flash are or ever were alternatives to javascript is displaying a very profound ignorance of what javascript is for. How do I manipulate the DOM in java? Oh I don't? It is not an alternative option then. Javascr

I probably can't help you much there, I think LYAH is pretty good. Are you trying to avoid learning monads, or you want a different approach to learning them? I think this is the best explanation of monads: http://blog.sig

I used linux back then too, and I don't recall anything of the sort. IBM was still fighting against linux up until around the time of the redhat IPO. Looking back I can't find anyone referencing any IBM contributions that early.

Your comparisons to other languages are pretty misguided. In particular, virtually everyone who prefers haskell over ocaml also prefers C over ada or pascal, making it contradictory. Ocaml isn't more pragmatic than haskell.

The sprinkles are for people buying certs, not the customers of the people buying certs. End users don't even know he got a different cert, or what that means.

It doesn't matter how good a job your vendor does, if there is a vendor that does a bad job, then the attacker can get a cert from them. The presence of a single bad cert authority renders all certificates useless.
