Same, my real estate lawyer charged $350 flat fee. He used standard documents, private sale. He probably spent about 1 hour on it in total, and that was about it.

I and almost everyone I know have had the exact same experience. Buyer agents seems to basically set you up on some auto-email service for a search filter (which you can do yourself on many real estate websites), and occasionally take you t

I think people are just parroting soundbites they hear like "the number of administrators keep growing and are causing the tuition increases." In reality, what's happening is way too complex to be described in a single or eve

The incentive is that they're academics and want to do the right thing. Maybe more pessemistically, they don't want to be called out by other academics doing the right thing. If we go back to the original topic, which is that deid

I agree that 20 rejections is significant. But I think it's a bit naive to think that 20 journals (about 60 peers reviewers) were fools who rejected because they were uncomfortable with the results. Are we really to believe these scien

I see no evidence that the problem is that people were unwilling to fund uncomfortable results, but that they didn't see the point of funding a calculation that as the article notes, could be done on the back of the envelope, and witho

Doesn't Yahoo have an entire team called "The Paranoids" to deal with security? Were they not involved in setting up this service?

It requires you to pay for service until the end of July first. And then you may get the credit (if you were fast enough). Seems like a so-so deal to me.

This doesn't seem to be anything new. bit.ly and other shorteners have had this before. Not sure why this is front page material, except that there's been a bunch of refer.ly front page posts recently.

They could at least run the PNG through a png compressor and shave 91kb off the size (tested on pngout) and without any loss in quality. Would save a lot of bytes over time...
