Yep, their recognition software looks neat. There are a ton of Notepad apps out there, but they are all clunky to use. My goal is to make 3banana as easy to use as a Google search. I'm writing plugins so you can post notes from QuickSilver,

I would guess the 4x more likely for co-founders figure holds. Right, my guess is also the same. My question was so pg could chime in with data since YC has gotten much more popular.

My prodding was more along the lines that since there was an order of magnitude more applicants this round and they only had a week to look over the applicants, was it nearly impossible to get in being a solo founder? I'm a bit annoyed with

So why don't we tell people why we didn't invite them to interview? Because, paradoxical as it sounds, there often is no reason. Maybe I'm trying to read tea leaves, but did the "You are the only founder" boolean play a bigger part this t

I haven't had a chance to do much networking with other startup folk in the area, tho I did bump into one of the core PostgreSQL guys last week. Where do these startupshingdigs happen, should I be reading Valleywag more? Right now I'm boots

It would have been incredible to get into the YC program and be able to bounce ideas off of all those brilliant people, but on the positive side I don't have to worry about moving to Boston. I really dig SF =). So the plan still is make som

In hindsight I probably should have focused a bit more on that aspect in my application. =)

Kinda, but this is a very different animal. There are two itches I'm scratching with 3banana. The first is that I want to keep track of small bits of information and make it easy to retrieve them from any device. Right now I email myself no

Just got the "rejection" letter, I'm a bit disappointed I couldn't get the team reviewing the proposals as passionate about the project as I am. I think being a solo founder hurt me, but I've been working on the project full-time for four m

scratches head Couldn't you have done this before using AuthSub and a registered application? The only thing that seems different is that Google returns an email address to you with App Engine, so you can skip that step in the registartio

I couldn't create the identifier from their web page, it looks like it needs to be at least 8 characters long.

Has anybody been able to put their app online? I keep getting Application Identifier: App already exists. Even when I pick random App names. Odd.

Google, the deadline for the Android Challenge is just 7 days, 1 hour, and 56 minutes away. Couldn't you have waited a bit over a week to release this? :P

Yes, but what if your launch doesn't wow folks? Are people going to come back and give you a second try after you added those killer features? It's already been four months, two more weeks can't hurt.

The secret key isn't stored in the client (I looked :P), only the AWSAccessKeyId, policy, and signature are. The policy dictates what can be stored in the bucket, and the signature validates the policy so folks don't tamper with it.

There is some validation logic on the server side using an S3 policy. Base64 decode the policy input field on the postForm and you get: { "expiration": "2009-01-01T12:00:00.000Z", "conditions": [ {"bucket": "vtabroadbandwiki" },

I'm a bit disappointed that he didn't include IPoAC (IP over Avian Carriers) in his comparisons. Sure it is high latency, but the bandwidth is killer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers

I mirrored the files to my server and Safari reloads the images on restart. http://3banana.com/pics/cache_test/jpgtest.html YSlow gives the page a score of 98, so I know the headers are being set properly. Okay, that is bloody weird.

Agreed, it is also more cost effective to work from home. And at home you have a fully stocked fridge, comfy chair, and nobody will kick you out when you are hacking away at 2am.

Grow willpower? It's not a sprint, the harder thing is sustaining willpower. The trick is balance. Force yourself to take breaks and give yourself rewards. I finished a big piece of code on Tuesday and went for a bike ride to the Persidio.

What size team? If you are only one person then have a local svn repository and backup to S3.
