Considering a GUI runs on a turing machine, how is it outside the capabilities of one? Isn't everything we do on computers exactly within the capabilities of a turing machine and just about the ingenuity to create a program that does w

Doesn't even have to be 3 sigma. Even in a "tiered" secondary school system like in Germany (students are split up to three different levels of school after elementary, about 50% in the highest tier), you maybe have a handful

Actually Excel is smart here. It knows that Germany uses dots, but slashes are usually an indicator for the US. So you enter mm/dd/yyyy and it comes out as dd.mm.yyyy. (you see, you entered it flipped in your described experience)

Out of curiosity I looked it up and Duden actually has a page on it [1]. It can be broken down to 8 different cases according to Duden and there is actually some logic behind it (though not the best and most consistent :D). [1] https:/

I get why it doesn't bother you, if you like the experience and think it's worthwhile. I also happily pay for Netflix, while a friend of mine just asked me, if he can use my account to save a few bucks. Everybody values different

adding to that: A CS degree in Germany takes regularly three years not four. So you save one year. The time you save mostly comes from a faster ramp up in the beginning and less electives in the end compared to the US. Our Master degree pro

Go abroad. Universities in some countries are free and education is on the same level. Maybe even better, because going abroad usually influences you in a positive way.
