If you're hoping for a great domain hack, I think you're out of luck. I don't think you can register at the second level, so you'd have to register a .com.er or similar. The Wikipedia article seems to indicate it's not a well-supported TLD

It's hard to see myself choosing this over Dropbox. Currently no cross-platform support, and it's still a proprietary client. *edit: My bad. I googled for 'ubuntuone license' and the excerpt said it was proprietary. The Launchpad page now s

The 'Key Advantages' sidebar lists "Pay As You Go or Monthly Packages". I assumed they haven't yet announced their pay as you go pricing. Did you ask somebody at Softlayer about this?

I agree with the others - please look into fixing this. A Linode VPS is great at $20 a month, many others here will vouch for Slicehost. I like the idea of domainpigeon, but on the three times I've visited and tried to use it I've had an aw

If you're spending less than $150-200 it seems to be hard to beat a VPS. Certainly there are cheap dedicated servers to be had, but I don't believe you'll get such a high quality network and standard of support as with Linode/Slicehost. $15

This depends on the availability of a suitable API. Unfortunately, providers haven't decided on a common one yet. Sun were working on one ( http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2009/03/16/Sun-Cloud ), although perhaps other providers will

In that time, Linode have consistently increased their offerings at the same price-point and they deploy newer hardware. It seems a little odd to me that Slicehost seem to get so much more love in the hacker community and Linode remains the

Linode seems to occupy a good middle-ground. You get much more for your money than Slicehost and it's a fairly large, well-established host with multiple locations. A $20 Linode for instance gives you 360mb of of RAM, 16gb storage and 200gb

Danny O'Brien has picked out a great quote on this issue: > "It’s not about whether it’s porn or not porn. Those commenting on people’s supposed hypersensitivity to nudity or bodies are completely missing the point. It’s about presentin

Have you looked at the Sun Cloud API? http://www.tbray.org/ongoing/When/200x/2009/03/16/Sun-Cloud

I like the look of your service. It always seem to me that when you start pushing these low price-points, the expense of dealing with customer support, DMCA takedowns, hacking complaints etc would dominate the cost of providing the hardware

I don't follow - Linode supports both 32 bit and 64 bit distributions, while Slicehost only officially supports 64 bit.

Out of interest and on the topic of your personal profitability, do you get any meaningful income from the AdSense on your daemonology.net pages?

One weakness common to all the Flash clones I've seen is that the song you're playing along to sounds the same whether you hit the notes or not, unlike in Guitar Hero. Whether the improvement in gameplay would be worth the extra investment

The site now says "The next release will be open source under an MIT-style license", and will be available at http://wmd.googlecode.com - now I'm interested.

I read this and figured it was as good a time as any to have an RSS feed clearout. Down to 52 from 302.

I disagree. A language without OO can allow code to be organised in an intelligent way by providing a module system. See Standard ML as (what I consider to be) a good example of this.
