The best intro for functional programming, IMO, is Joel Spolsky's "Can your language do this" ( http://www.joelonsoftware.com/items/2006/08/01.html ).

I don't think there are a lot of jobs in Haskell. Yesod/Snap/Happstack(/Scotty) are the only web frameworks and I can count only three companies (not blogs or framework websites) that use Haskell to serve websites. And

tl;dr They are realtime. They don't want full blown Rest frameworks for just reactive views. So, no AngularJS or EmberJS. What about Knockout.js? It's just 16kb.
