I find the M1 Max configurations reasonable(almost equivalent to their Intel Mac Mini) and the M1 Ultra configurations obscene.

I am actually at a loss at who the M1 Ultra is aimed for.

Seems like the antithesis of hustle culture which is being pushed hard today. Although it seems to be that there is starting to be backlash on that.

Since we live in a time of relative peace and technology, people often forget that population correlates to military might. I am pretty sure that once society decays enough that people start thinking of making war again, expect a population

After going through different diets(some were successful, some not), I just learned to listen to my body. There is really no one diet that will work for all people. People need to learn to customize their diet for their own needs.

The CPU trend nowadays seem to be combining chiplets and having performance and efficiency cores.

The only reason I also went up to 32GB RAM(almost bought the 64GB one) was because of Docker.

Or maybe Jobs was just salty about the Halo buyout? In any case, it's a moot point. Apple clearly doesn't care about desktop gaming and it shows in both their hardware and software.

This is already known for a long time already. You would have to actively choose to not listen to AMD news to not know.

Almost all current CPUs, x86 or ARM seem to be stuck at 1.6-1.7k range in GeekBench. Still waiting for something that breaks the 2k or 3k benchmark.

If one is only interested in single core performance, the M1 Ultra doesn't offer anything significant from the M1 Pro/Max, AMD, or Intel CPUs.

It's true. But then if you are only interested in swapping RAM or GPUs, you can keep your machine for a long time.

I have the M32U. My only gripe is that the colors(DCI-P3 90%) are just not as good as my Macbook or my Dell U2720Q. Otherwise, it has been great, especially with games.

It's only for multicore performance. I would have instantly buy it if it was twice the single core performance.

Well, it wouldn't be single core performance if there are 16 of them, right?

Don't even need to go Intel. If one only needs single core performance, the M1 Mini should be enough.

I would really love an ultrawide for the extra space and immersive gaming option. But Retina display has spoiled me a lot. I regret getting used to a 4K configuration scaled to 150% which is effectively 2560x1440 display with higher PPI.

After their comparison claims on the M1 Pro/Max and Nvidia GPUs, I would take these comparisons with a huge grain of salt.

It would be interesting to see how x86 fares against ARM on the same node size.
