It's about the intent, not about scientific and factual proof. Skip the first chapter if it annoys you. You don't need to read it to profit from the rest of the book.

You mixed up 1 and 4, but that's no problem. Doing your best means that you will never be 100% perfect in following up on 1, 2 and 3, so make the best of it and forgive yourself if you forget to follow them. For me 3 was very important

First explain what is wrong with the LO 5 design? I find the ribbon gui horrible. The fact that the buttons and menu haven't changed that much since ten years, so what? It does the job. The only office gui better was the Lotus Suite on

Totally agree! I find the ribbon gui a total mess. I'm glad I can use LibreOffice, and since version 5 the layout is quite allright. I don't know what should be better. It is exactly like I expect it, buttons are where I want them

Busses and trucks don't fit under it, so it cannot pass it and vice versa. Traffic lights and bridges have to be adapted or avoided. It could work on longer straight roads, no corners.

Just another reason not to put all your eggs in one basket. Using Firefox as browser, no Hotmail or Outlook, no login at Windows 10 installation, this all seems to have little effect on the installations I've done the past weeks.

Just wondering - would it be possible to send a header back to webservers forbidding them to fingerprint my browser? Would that have any chance legally?

Is my browser uniquely identifiable? Yes! This is no surprise, not anymore at least. I pass the first three tests here, but fingerprinting does the trick. About one in 50k browsers has the same fonts as me. About one in 30k browsers have th

Isn't it better to use a cheap non-TSA lock on your luggage? If they open it, the lock is destroyed, and you know for sure someone has opened it - either personel or someone with criminal intentions. Or will this result in more trouble

Interesting read. What I don't understand is why other body hair is not mentioned, and if that has the same effect. If not, what makes a beard different?

This reminds me of a quote from Biz Stone, Twitter founder: It takes ten years to become an overnight success. https://twitter.com/liftapp/status/472080510546903040

Proper nesting layout will only work if they use proper nesting. Given the limitations - great job! I only use the first two lines as the png does not load.

When shop personel is not friendly, we tend to think that that person is not a friendly person, as a character trait. When I'm not friendly in the same situation, it's because I didn't get enough sleep, or because I had a fig

The book that was free yesterday is not free today. If you haven't claimed it yesterday, you have to pay now. So it's a temporary offer. If I need a book, I'm willing to pay for it. But sometimes these books are nice offers.

I'm from the Netherlands. If an employer wants to fire you, he has to follow certain rules. If you have a temporary contract, he can just let you go after that period, so that's a popular method - just hire people temporary. Howev

So the fight has started! Interesting to see how Ireland is going to react. And then what effect will this have on the negotiations? On second thought - this is probably not a fight. This is probably not even a plan. This is the result of n

For this to work they only need one little chip that can do what the secure enclave does. They can then require that chip in Android phones. That's a lot cheaper and easier. Then they need to control the manufacturing of this chip, not

I still have an Intertec Superbrain here. The looks of it alone make it worth keeping. It needs repairs, but I'm afraid the screen is dead (has stains on it), and then it's probably over. I would like to be able to copy the 5.25&q

You can use a client check to check for the basic requirements, like minimum and maximum length, characters required or allowed etc. Then when the user submits his password, you can do a serverside check.

But there is a good chance that these GET parameters are logged by the webserver. Even if these servers are very secure and strictly monitored, one bad employee can cause a lot of trouble.

There are two types of helium. Helium 4 is useless except for balloons. It's cheap and there's a big supply. Helium 3 is just 0,000137% of the total, is important for science or stuff, and this is not sold for balloons.
