IIRC I'd need both pipx and pyenv, because pipx alone will use whatever Python distribution is in my path.

Another advantage: your installation isn't tethered to a system Python implementation that may go away and nuke the env.

Worth clarifying, too: if you have tooling that depends on `get-pip.py`, you'll need to change your reference to https://bootstrap.pypa.io/2.7/get-pip.py

They have a web client. On Linux, I've used it within an Electron wrapper. Their API (MusicKit) is decent, but the rate limiting is fairly onerous.

I'm extremely skeptical of AWS's ability to deliver a compelling, featured ES fork up against Elastic. Unless they actively hire contributors, they're going to get lapped functionality-wise.

I remember being on my college's campus when this brood hit the mid-Atlantic 17 years ago. The sidewalks on the quad were occasionally crunchy.

WebExtension was started by Mozilla, and is based on Chrome's extension API. Google has no incentive to support the project.

I feel like the migration to open floor plans and offices where you need to take your knowledge base everywhere (e.g., conference rooms) has lead to laptops being the default loadout for many companies.

I wrote a browser extension that interacted with a password manager. I receive almost-weekly messages from folks offering to buy my extension.

NYT's paywall requires JS. Reader mode (or disabling JS on the client), bypasses it. It does break some image loading, as well as their fancier article types.

They prevent you from starting a new stack. I had automation that spun up new stacks for automated testing. That all broke.

The double-edged sword here is that you can get hit by their stack retirement policies. Cedar-14 was killed this year, and Heroku-16 is gone next year. For better or for worse, Docker images will continue to run.

One can still write tests that are flaky - some of the challenges that Selenium et al. experience are still present: 1. Selectors still need to be specific enough `.button` is great until you add another button. 2. Selectors can be _too_ sp

A better comparison might be Heroku, which, post SF acquisition, hasn't really changed to become more SalesForce-y as far as I can see.
