I don't find it surprising at all. Almost 17 years ago I got into programming thanks to how simple and easy PHP was. Last time I wrote PHP was back in 2013, however I do not hold any grudges. Low entry barrier in learning the syntax, s

I agree to both that $200k is change for many companies and that it's very well deserved. My point is that companies that use SciterJS for commercial applications already have a commercial license. Therefore releasing Sciter as a FOSS

Given the author wants to release Sciter under GPL, unless twice as many funds are raised, I fail to see the incentive for any company to fund this. GPL + commercial licensing model changes nothing for commercial product developers.

Separating these devices physically is more secure than looking for alternative or reverse engineered firmwares. A VLAN would also suffice as long as it's not under the same subnet as your main LAN. Same applies to Wi-Fi. Also, separat

You provide a valid point, but where's the hacker factor in choosing something readily available? 100k views for under $1 seems like the true hacker spirit, utilizing whatever AWS offers without breaking the bank.

Similar story over here. I started by offering shared hosting with supervision as added value, expanded into reselling VPS'es and eventually leased bare metal servers that I partitioned into VPS'es. I could have made a lot more mo

Ditto. Or even an old-school LED that indicates data transmission like the HDD LED in old computer cases. Make it in hardware so that if any data is sent through the wire, it lights up.

How far do you sit from the TV? How near or far is comfortable compared to a monitor that fits on your desk. I'm contemplating a similar setup.

I have a weird experience when it comes to playing Counter Strike on Linux. It was back in 2004 when most non-Valve Counter Strike servers in my region(EU) used anti-cheat software called CheatingDeath. I was using Linux on my desktop for a

It took me a good number of years to realize that working for startups cost me years of being underpaid, working long hours and no real benefits in the end. I joined a corporation a couple of months ago and now I'm getting twice as muc

I've been working fully remotely since 2012, except for one year when I had to go to the office every day. Points described in the article are valid, quite a few have occurred to me, but loneliness is the nastiest one I've been st

Roughly same educational gains can be had by staying at an Average Joe Airbnb, where normal residents live. A week should be enough to get a glimpse of what cities are really about.

Out of curiosity - did you chose jQuery because it's so ubiquitous or was it the better choice? There are frameworks like vue.js where you don't have to deal with node, yarn, explicit dependencies and transpilation, that offer vir

Nice knowing that, in addition of three failing keys (u, i and o) and one failed speaker, I can also expect the display flex cable to fail. 2017 MBP that's been plagued with problems from the very beginning.
