Bench-marketing aside, I guess nobody ever expected MongoDB to outperform Couchbase. It's strengths are elsewhere, like the query language, secondary indexes and document model.

Great post. I didn't check mio before but after reading the post I can probably jump start.

Kinda sad, but at least Postgres is in.

Reading it put a smile in my face. Looking forward to the final release.

Hot keys can be a problem, performance wise. So people sometimes "shard the key".

I'm hoping 2.0 (which will include the MongoDB query syntax) will bring CouchDB back from the dead. It's a great system.

Well... I'll make sure to elaborate a little more next time. Edit: Thanks for the explanation.

Why so many down-votes? The main changes can't be really backported to LuaJIT as far as I know. Otherwise I'd write "great news", then your down-vote warriors would be happy.

Android dev is smelly, even if you target 4.0+. Any mid sized app need several workarounds/hacks in order to work properly.

These are REALLY BAD examples, the safe rust version isn't parallelized but the two others are. The unsafe version is just translated C as people already stated. A safe version these days (heading towards 1.0) shouldn't be far of

Most of the complexity in this code is due to parallelism and in fact it would be prettier these days (it's moving fast). A plain simple version (like the go) one is likely to be even simpler due to the functional aspect in rust.

The last time I checked using it in producing wasn't even recommended by the authors http://rethinkdb.com/stability/

Make sure you compile your release/bench builds with --release (if using cargo) or (-O if using rustc).

PG has async/sync/hybrid replication for years already. It's not as tooled as MongoDB but there's some tools like http://www.repmgr.org/ to amend it.

Fields are always sorted (internally), I didn't test but I assume it's preserved on the wire (as json) as well.

The old design was/is awesome, I'll miss it. I didn't fell comfortable with the new one, looks too bright to my eyes.

Well, if you take advantage of it may break stuff. Although this doesn't really qualify as a breaking change since older code is going to compile when it's introduced.

It seems to me it's inference so the type will stay the same, just inferred.

This isn't necessarily all bad, as people use it more this and OTHER problems will show up and will be worked out. As long as we don't get into HUGE breaks (like Py3) it's fine.

Since it's not a breaking change it's not coming in 1.0, probably shortly after it though.
