The README should really say what VimSpeak is. I don't want to have to watch a video about another similar application just to figure out what this is.

Oh, duh. I thought about that a little while after I made the comment. It still seems like it would be a bit fidgety to set up unless the device itself had two wireless cards. If you give it the credentials to your home network but give it

A hot-spot is a bad idea because most computers can't connect to two wifi networks at once. That means any time you wanted to configure your thermostat, you'd have to disconnect from the internet.

Doesn't windows have a standard windows installer for python? Why are we still teaching beginners Python 2.7? What is wrong with python 3?

When the infrastructure becomes available, I have a hard time imagining how "self-driving" cars could possibly be any worse than humans driving cars.

Google Now already does all of this. It deduced my address by scraping my emails, and somehow it knows where I work, too. When my airline tickets were emailed to me, it brought up flight tracker information and weather for both arrival and

The point of http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=5320630 was to address the fact that you were putting words in my mouth. You said "So what are you saying, it's ok as long as the US is not as bad a NK?" That statement is completely orthog

Nobody here is saying that. The US treats a lot of people very reprehensibly, but comparing living conditions in the US to living conditions in NK is like comparing a Mercedes to a pogo-stick.

How you could say that is an order of magnitude????? The US has an order of magnitude more people! Using your numbers and Google's population estimates, 8 per 1000 people in NK are prisoners, while 7 per 1000 people in the US are prisoners.

Ah, I apologize. It seemed like the poster was making a comparison between the US and NK when he said that the US could no longer credibly criticize NK for human rights violations, and that "both have abused [...] human rights in abysmal wa

Wow. I'm happy to turn this into a discussion. North Korea has it worse. There is no way in hell, you are going to convince me that the US is a bigger domestic human rights violator.

> The issue with rebinding is that you'll only encounter your bindings on your machine. If you're frequently on machines that don't have your custom profile, that's an issue. I mentioned that at the end of my post.

He makes a good point though. You could switch insert to the h key and do it this way. Upsides: - ijkl is easier for users learning vim. - don't have to shift your fingers over to h key Downsides - rebind insert to h (not really a big deal)

Interesting. The font tags appear to have been closed with </font color>. What's weirder is that there are no line breaks so it kind of seems as if an IDE did this.

What UI are you talking about? pacman is a relatively simple to use cli tool. -S to install something, -Ss to search for something -y to update the package list, and -Su to upgrade packages; that's basically four flags to memorize. Or do it
