I agree with some of what you're saying but Hangouts didn't JUST get rebranded. Meet was introduced while Hangouts was still alive.

I'm personally particularly excited by the fact that it allows students to build a basic computer system from ground up. Most students with regular CS curricula knowledge won't be able to do that.

That's good enough for me, I've just started it and the way CS is taught in my high school is extremely generic and boring so yeah, for me it's good so far except for the initial part, they do get to extreme basics I suppose.

Ngl, I'm glad it's over. GSoC is another program but in that, students actually submit their project proposals which makes way more sense and is better than GCI in orders of magnitude.

While I agree with most of what you stated but imo, LaTeX helps with pretty much everything the community needs. Hell, it even has a Reference Management Software going for it to manage citations easily. It's really easy to convert to
