I guess I exaggerated. Plastic wrap: $1.97/200sf = $0.00985 Foil: $3.78/75sf = $0.05040 Looks like it's a bit over 5 times as much. However used foil can't be recycled, while used plastic wrap can be burned for energy. B

Yah, I'd like to see the actual survey wording. All the weasel words they put in there make it seem kind of fake.

You use foil instead of cling wrap? And you do this for environmental reasons? I'm struggling to understand here, why in the world would you do that? Foil consumes thousands of times more resources than plastic wrap.

It's a lot slower to write a large file to a ram based /tmp and let it swap out, vs writing that file to disk directly. If they want to do this they need to modify tmpfs to do a better job of shifting data to disk when full, ins

If I use a delivery service that charges a delivery fee (whether on each order or a yearly membership) I tip 1% on the order. That's it. That delivery fee is supposed to pay the delivery drivers. It's not my responsibility to help

You can get virtually of that benefit, without having to wait for the bootup, by using airplane mode each night. Booting up takes a lot of battery power - I bet if you did airplane mode plus battery saver overnight, you would actually use l

Nano comes from pico which in turn comes from the email client pine (which is currently forked as alpine). alpine isn't used much anymore (although I still use it) but it's progeny is still widely used, which is nice.

It's "dehumanizing" to assume a human is capable of acting like a human? And I think you have a rather low opinion of homeless people.

I'll probably regret asking, but how is it dehumanizing? I said that as humans they would be able to find shelter, but an animal would not. Isn't that almost exactly the opposite of dehumanizing?

These storms build up over a period of time, I would imagine they would seek shelter under a tree or in a doorway as soon as one started up. Feel bad for livestock though!
