The QLDB performance comparison looks quite dodgy, but I can't find their QLDB benchmark code to see what they are doing wrong.

RMS does not have the skillset needed for a leadership position today. If you care about the movement, it needs a leader people want to follow. Just because RMS is not at the top doesn't mean he is being denied chances and isn't f

My comment only addressed wear on components, and specifically mentioned tyres and ball joints. I am not making a statement on upfront costs. I’m also not considering behavioural changes of users when switching to electric motors.

Cited article is about _potential_ torque loads and the need to design for it, and does not address light duty typical use case for mail delivery. Jerk causes chatter (slippage) between parts and can significantly reduce designed life. Elec

Smooth delivery of power has surprising downstream effects. The wear on ball joints and tyres for EVs can be significantly less due to not having as much jerk (derivative of acceleration) from their motor.

There is an AER paper in naked short selling, and Smith and other experimentalists have done extensive work on mechanism design. When the top journal publishes on it, and someone wins a Nobel for the area, I’d say there is theory to cover i

I expect Elastic to not pretend they are doing this in the spirit of getting contributions back. Just say that this is in the interests of their business model.

More fascinating to me is that Garmin uses Sony for GPS chips. Given their long history and penetration in marine and aviation, I’m surprised they can’t or don’t want to compete with Sony. Sad if this means Garmin is on the decline.
