Estate taxes almost always apply to estates valued at > $5m. Why anyone who isn't super rich would give two squirts boggles my mind, and it a symptom of the American "temporarily embarrassed millionaire" mindset. Sadly, th

"Founders" that the author wrings his hands about so much, owe 99% of their ability to generate wealth to the government. If you're from the US, you own most of it to global American imperialism and hegemony. You should be gi

I think one of the worst(?) parts is when someone turns a hobby that their friends and family enjoy them doing/sharing in to a business. Suddenly it's this all consuming thing. Their instagram/SNS posts turn in to nothing but

Also know your reporting metrics. Increasing revenue is growth, which capitalism jerks off over. Profits, not so much.

Yea, but then you see two idiots spend countless weeks “perfecting” things that don’t matter. Shipping matters. Customers don’t care about the fires behind the scenes, they care about bouncy pixels. The PHB meme has to die.

Governments can also mandate production. It's not like they have to sit there powerless going "aw geeze, we have to let them price gouge or they won't make more".

You’ll be a JCJ pro with that kind of attitude towards the difficulty of learning Japanese. You’re at the very, very tip of being a beginner with what you’ve said here.

That libertarian capitalist bullshit. People create things for free all the time. The purpose of creation is for the use of those creations. The purpose of government is to administer the common desires for the common good of the society th

OP needs to look outside of the US where this kind of data will be used for the benefit of patients, and primary healthcare isn’t run like a business.

“Bad code” is entirely subjective based on unclear standards. We had one engineer bitch about some solution that wasn’t “elegant” enough for him and he proceeded to waste 2 days “fixing” it.

You’re writing tomorrow’s legacy code today, so be kind about “other people’s messes” because you’re going to be the recipient of that same criticism one day.

This person has it all wrong. Suburbs were created artificially, and it just doesn’t matter. Mixed income neighbourhoods are the desired result of all development. The pockets, rings, and regions of classist housing is the problem, not its

The article addresses this specifically. It’s mental labour, and that includes the division of duties. It’s not emotional.

I have the same issue, but I'm also using the Dell 180w dock with it. I just have to switch ports for the USB-C cable that comes from the dock 1-4 times. Usually the first plug in produces nothing on the monitor. The first port swap

You’re going to find a lot of assumptions here. Lots of wealthy, upper class Venezuelans who don’t live there but “have family” there with anti-Madurai attitudes.

Sounds like we’ve found a wealthy Venezuelan. Madurai has the support of the working class, which means he has the support of the country.

Leadership is soft skills, and the employee in question doesn’t have them. The poster needs to get out of the weeds, and stop the demand on labour, but he’s not wrong about getting rid of the petulant child.

But that’s not the point though. What is the _real_ difference between 98% and 99% in real world terms? How much colder will you feel? Will it dry out your skin faster? How much faster? It’s a difference against zero.

Sure, but the deal is that at very small numbers, a massive change in % difference doesn’t translate in to a massive difference. It’s _entirely_ dependent on context. The raw stats are meaningless.
