Wow — thank you so much for sharing that. I'm really glad the community has been so valuable to you. It's been great to have you, Raphael :)

Hah, in retrospect, I agree. I guess I couldn't resist the pun. That change was actually made by the editor at Facebook, who did an excellent job of helping condense my original post and adapting it for a wider audience. I also added i

That's not much of a feature, it's more like a common courtesy. Call me entitled, but I would expect that to be the case even without them explicitly saying so.

Thanks for pointing that out. I just watched "The Internet's Own Boy", the documentary about Aaron, and it is positively incredibly how many projects Aaron created or played a critical role in creating. An unthinkable shame t

Came here to say this. I feel the same way — even about the schema. Having a poorly-organized or thought out resume should be an immediate signal to employers. This eliminates that. Of course, this is not to imply that having a really well-

This is as significant a loss for the Node community as the loss of _why was to the Ruby community. Maybe even more so.

I'll try to package it up into something useful then! In short, my system basically was just a highly parallelized graph crawler in node.js, which dumped into mongo for easy queries and analysis. I'll try to make it a bit more agn

Definitely — thanks for the feedback. That's something that I struggled with in particular, because I wrote the post for a dual audience — both HS Hackers itself, as well as the wider hacker community. I'm updating some of the lan

Sorry you felt that way — definitely was not my intention to be off-putting. It just seemed like a natural way to partition the various stages of the story, especially given that the group was started 9 months ago.

I thought about that too, actually. I suppose it's a bit intentional, given the audience — I was definitely trying to be a bit tongue-in-cheek about "scaling". Maybe I should append the subtitle "From 0 to Sam Altman and

If anyone is interested in how those stats at the bottom were generated, it was with a Graph API tool I wrote for the job. I would be happy to clean it up and release it as open source if anyone else would find it valuable.

Completely disagree, and I'm really not sure why you're characterizing their decision to base on Debian/Linux as a "mistake" (it's going very well so far). >I think they should have adopted Android as a desk

Good presentation. One thing that caught my eye was the tool used to visualize mongodb traffic in real time — apparently called "mongoscope"[1]. Anyone know what it is, or is it just an internal toy? [1] http://i.imgur.

Do you also tell people who describe themselves as "Python/Django hacker" to drop the "made-up title" and label themselves as "developer"? Seriously, what does it matter to you how the guy labels himself?
