Mavericks isn't really free -- you can't have it without the hardware to go with it and that hardware can be seen as a 'lifetime' license for OS X. Ubuntu has paid enterprise services: http://www.canonical.com

RHEL and SLED contain some things that their community editions don't and are updated and tested more carefully. But yes, you're also paying for support.

"In the blockchain". Assuming they weren't lost because someone forgot a password, all of the BTC lost / stolen in transaction malleability are traceable. Whether or not its feasible to check every transaction from Gox

This is an asinine comment. RHEL and SLED are enterprise-geared distros and paid products.

Is the source 'User X' or 'StackOverflow'? When you reference CC BY-SA code you don't reference the people who, say, checked it into git but rather the whole repo.

I see this blog post conveniently ignores some details. I suppose this probably isn't surprising, pretty sure his consultancy firm is a client of Comcast's and that aside, has clear skin in the game on the CDN front. 1) The origin

Because all the default services are preloaded during setup. iCloud and Safari both have an update script in their package installers that 'prewarms' them for your first setup.

It's almost certainly Contacts / iCloud doing its accounts check or Safari doing its preload for the default bookmarks/most recent pages.

Network's that whitelist devices by MAC and device registration/provisioning by MAC. And debugging network is theoretically easier when every device has a unique MAC. There are several applications for OSX and various *nix distros

I enjoy that they're serving the patch over HTTP with no signatures or anything. So their patch may be just as useless or maybe make things even worse due to MITM

No...Not as far as I can tell. Attempting to connect over the bare IP address to an SSL site results in a curl error[1]. Whereas under 10.9.1 its allowed 1: http://pastebin.com/AZ38WYaB

I can confirm that this is fixed in 10.9.2 (Since the first build of it). From the looks of things (and some friends in the Mavericks dev group), the final 10.9.2 should be dropping very soon

All of the recent Atom brand chips for mobile deployment are SoCs. There's a CPU, a GPU and a shared memory package on the same silicone. Intel calls it a SoC themselves [1] [1]: http://newsroom.intel.com/community/

The recent House of Cards (S02E03) is actually refreshingly good. There are a holes that pretty much have to exist for plot but overall they actually talk about real things. Not random gibberish.
