I'm reading Against Method by Paul Feyerabend. It makes the case for more anarchy in science, that observations are shaped by the paradigm and that therefore new theories sometimes require respite from a lack of support in current evid

I understand what you mean citing Arendt, but unlike Eichmann, what strikes me about this recording of Hitler is how eerily charismatic he comes across with the deep and sober voice, contrasted by Mannerheim's accented and presumably s

The introduction was interesting and thankfully the reference checks out as serious: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_Color_Terms

Heck, back in my days, we kids at least had to walk to each other's house to play video games together.

In my experience, 10x employees don't collaborate much with others because they're playing in a different league. You can turn that into an a priori argument, that by definition being exceptional implies riding solo. So WFH will l

I remember the eigenvector analysis of the original paper [1] wasn't terribly inaccessible. I think an alternative title for this blog post could be "Intuitively Understanding the Harris Corner Detector Optimizations". [1] h

Reminds me of a "bad trip" or OCD patterns. I sometimes think about how little it takes to derail the human mind, by trauma or ontogenically, and how wishful the idea of a human-like AI then seems.

You were being facetious, but Swedes are used to being flexible with collaborations. I don't why I'm playing the ambassador, I don't work there.

I used to have a modest claim to fame in the niche world of Lego biped walkers with a similar design, some 20 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKioQefwKWQ

These robots always look strained. Their movement is not natural, I think because of not being energy efficient. Passive bipedal walkers* look more human like than anything that has come out of Boston Dynamics. * https://www.yout

Yeah. This is good advice and all but it's no use if embraced only by behavior on a superficial level. Then it's just cosmetic and can be quite vile at worst, like seeing guys repeat pick-up artist tricks.

Is it a black swan though? I can imagine something like GPS was envisioned well before the first satellites were even launched into orbit. Note, I'm not disputing you. This got me thinking about the nature of invention and discovery.

The author comes across as ignorant at best, but then to present his own work as the Realism Hypothesis of Hertzmann, it leans more towards arrogance.

It's funny how, in the end, the ultimate and perhaps only proof of personhood is being a person, engaged in the world. Sort of how the ultimate decentralized currency is encompassed in the global market of rising and falling economic p

The simulation part I'd argue isn't as interesting. That other part is though, namely that you, or a computer, can reason symbolically. We can treat the irrational length of the hypotenuse as though it exists in some concrete sens
