Sure. But if fidelity to C style was not a concern then I don't see why the '==' syntax was adopted in the first place.

How so? Syntactically, or from a pragmatic point of view?

I feel the colon is unnecessary, especially considering how C deals with this. A plain '=' inside a conditional is already invalid syntax in Python.

>You could argue everything above machine language is syntactic sugar. The sugar is sprinkled on top of syntax, the stuff the parser deals with. Typing a += 1 instead of a = a + 1 is sugar because it parses the same. This assignment synt

I dream of a passively cool stationary machine with a heat sink case that is essentially a Menger sponge. For maximizing the surface/volume ratio.

I always thougth the point of those cages was to keep the wheel in its steady angle, but it seems it's rather the opposite -- to spread the angle around. I think you're observation is right, and I suppose that's the compromis

And if there is any gene the causes babies to cry when they are in an exposed situation, preventing it from being snatched by a predator or bit by a nasty bug, it too would propagate. Not sure if you were making a prediction though. Tightly

"Sparse Distributed Memory" is a lovely book by Pentti Kanerva in which he hypothesizes that high dimensional binary vectors (hypervectors) is key to understanding human memory and cognition. To a large part Kanerva is concerned w

I think this is to the point. The senior names will help propagate the news. Due recognition will follow; those who have influence will look further than the NYT.

MSPaint had some hidden treasures. The first thing I tried was the right-click-while-drawing-cancel feature. Alas. Love seeing the old graphics however.

I did some work [1] on constrained Delaunay triangulations similar to this where visually important, and constrained, edges were automatically determined by Laplace-like filters. [1] https://femtondev.wordpress.com/

That's brilliant. With phones getting thinner this would feel even more natural. It would probably allow for better tactile feedback technologies as well, and even thinner devices.
