You may have already discerned, but I don't give two shit's about the style of my comments on this site. The Internet is a bathroom stall, and comments are the graffiti. Taking them as seriously as you do is ridiculous.

Just to add a counter-point to the readily expressed opinion here on HN that the web is terrible and we should all go back to programming Coltran; the only place for desktop apps is testing new APIs for new technologies which the Web can ad

> It is easy to imagine something much better, where your code runs on a nice tidy runtime native to the OS Yeah, cause that's how every native platform has been since the begining. Yet the web still needed to be invented. Why?

Serve videos as videos. Photo data compresses better with Jpeg. But gifs are still a better option for animated illustrated graphics.

No mention of Twitter, Facebook or Instagram? It seems obvious to me that that is where the blogs went. People don't create content so that people they don't know have something to do in their spare time, they do it for the recogn

I got turned down at a job interview in 2014 because I couldn't code coffeescript. The guy interviewing me went on-and-on about how cool it was. It was exactly like how Typescript is today.

TypeScript just moves all errors from runtime to compiletime, even the ones nobody would ever realistically encounter. The user's browser is the only typechecker that matters, and that's why end-to-end tests are more important tha

I don't see how quitting helps the workers he claims to care about. Many of them would probably love to have the amount of influence that a VP has. Seems disingenuous to claim that as a reason for quitting.

I'm not talking about management, I'm talking about leadership. Do you have a tech lead on your team? If not how do technical decisions get made? Is it democratic (everyone votes) or more meritocratic (everyone argues their opinio
