Cloudflare blogs are not meant to be human-read, AFAIK. They're raw material meant to be fed into an agent to be filtered down. I rarely read the contents because they are usually word-expanded to a greater degree than an article from

My number one problem with Rust (which I otherwise like) is that Cargo allows build-time code execution so I need to run in a sandbox (unergonomic for me) or provide agent instructions to inspect `build.rs` style code in libraries etc. prio

Everything is now open-source by default. All features are replicable. I don’t really care that much any more that tools need to be OSS because I can make my copies when I want. And I do when I so desire. Your feature page is your source co

This makes sense, but I wish there was a generally accepted way to share geospatial data and POI data against OSM IDs. e.g. I want to be able to add overlays for noise level, etc. and I find the whole thing too fragmented. The OSM way seems

Okay, I think you’re right about some things. Coordinating a market economy is not straightforward. Individual participants will buy what is optimal for them. By embargoing them we provided a coordination mechanism. Chinese semiconductor ma

Were we going to get payback for this latest economic war? Or for the last one? Or for supporting Taiwan in the 80s? Or for the Korean War? That’s the thing with this payback notion. It’s always justifiable. You just rewind to an appropriat

That can’t be real. Modal rents out an RTX 6000 Pro for more than that. Nvidia will rent your GPUs at a fixed cheap rate if you buy from them. Perhaps AMD has a different subsidy style program. Because those MI355X are going cheap here.

Perhaps one can dream that we have a social media ban that affects HN and bans 35 and below. One can imagine if a ban is successful on one site then the kids flood another. It’ll be some kind of Thundering Herd Eternal September.

Wouldn't a free-trade and free-labor-movement treaty suffice for this purpose? I'd worry about Canada joining the US. The end state of most Anglophone nations is their universities full of Jason Ardays, their governments full of D

Withholding technology is the only tool we have. If we let them have the tech it's not like they'll start depending on us. They will simply replicate the machinery and then someone else will be writing a comment on Nacker Hews in

The advice from most agents is very normie and really the normie advice is pretty good, right? It's just that that's what you get most of the time until you give enough specifics to be known not to be normie. And the problem is th

The video quality is insane, but is there a model that doesn't make video where it looks like the characters are pausing at the end of their lines for a laugh track? There just seems to be an extra couple of beats after someone says so

I think centralized social networks were going to dominate in the end. There's just too much of an advantage to going to HN. There's a lot of content and a user-filter pushes the best stuff to the top in a way that you don't

Is that the point? Seems like Greek or Latin are more useful to an English speaker for familiarity, and Sinitic ones for foreign-ness. Sanskrit occupies a space that is less useful for a Western audience as a sibling language to English in
