If it's not too specific (i.e. if any stiff cellophane in the dimensions of a roll of wrapping paper will do), I saw them selling another brand at the Target in Mountain View a few weeks ago.

Emphasis on "easy": even if it's just typo-fixing in your code or doing problems from week 1 of class, mundane/brainless tasks fine kindling for getting your brain chugging along for the bigger problems.

It's cool that you did this. Not sure that sort of focus works for me but at least you have it for you now ;) I do have one suggestion anyway: knowing how many tasks remain ahead might be cool. Like a progress bar, or an "i/N" counter.

It's very nice! An interface suggestion for you or Dan: make zoom in/out more discoverable. I've used other packages with this style of zoom interface, so I know there's precedent and some people will figure it out. But newcomers will be

I'd just throw in that if someone uses your code to try to reproduce what you've done, they may actually just be reproducing a bug -- or in the sinister case, reproducing a faked result. So a more general point in this whole discussion wou

Seconding the wish for smaller presentation -- think you're a bit below the sweet spot on the info-per-square-inch curve. I feel pretty hampered.

I can think of a number of advantages the NerdKit has with regards to certain niches (think linux vs. Mac, or linux from scratch vs. Ubuntu if you prefer), but here's one: marketed in a certain way, a NerdKit is something a non-techie paren

I think you've done a nice job of meeting a real gap in the product space. In ten years of watching this stuff (mostly from the sidelines -- anyone more involved please correct me if I'm wrong), I haven't seen much in the way of an all-in-

"I couldn't care less" is the literal way to state the sentiment, but it sounds weak and petulant compared to the idiom. There are multiple intonations that could potentially achieve the sarcastic effect, but the common one is just a flat

If you can find part-time employment on campus, you can work for a year and sit in on classes too. That way you can explore without the expense of making it official (most profs are cool with this). As long as you trust yourself not to sla

There are even laws on the books specifying the left lane as the "passing lane". There seems to be a recent trend in making these more strict, so I wonder what effect they're having. This guy seems to have an up-to-date catalogue (green i

I didn't read the NYTimes article, but the report itself claims to "Include only studies with random-assignment or controlled quasi-experimental designs". They go on to list some remaining caveats on page xvii, and I can think of one or tw

I'd put this a little more strongly: assuming what has been reported is true, Apple should step up and wield the power it has in this situation to strongly denounce and penalize Foxconn.

Funny: after a couple minutes of watching that feed for both spellings, the "Micheal" one is actually a lot more active. And indeed if you look at the "hot topic" list, the wrong spelling is winning ;)

You probably figured this out already, but living a little bit out of town (along the peninsula for example) can cut your rent by 40%, which would be more than the caltrain/bart fare to get you into town every day. Depending on your motivat
