Even people with the most superficial interest in Lisp will love to see screenshots, especially if they are described as awesome. If they can.

It WAS supposed to be a rant. And sure, the price movement was a "knee-jerk" reaction, and the price on US open will likely move higher - or lower. An instant drop followed by a flat market pretty much is a textbook example of the stock mar

Wow, your comment made mine go from +7 to +1. Trading on Xetra was quite active yesterday, but certainly less than a typical Nasdaq day. You should not discount that price movement as irrelevant. And Gruber's point on earnings releases was

Google is also not really a good retailer. They have no experience at all with directly selling stuff, and I think they messed it up. But I can directly buy phones from HTC or Samsung here (well, of course through retailers), and some peopl

I think a fair number of people have unlocked phones outside the USA because their carrier offers rebates for "phoneless" contracts.

An alternative explanation not involving carriers: Device manufacturers fiercely compete to get people to buy THEIR phones. They get customers by adding custom extensions, and by always having fresh phones in the pipeline. Customers do not

That logic does not apply to unlocked GSM phones (like mine), where no carrier is involved in the purchase. These don't get updates either, despite (or because) the device manufacturer is in control, not the carrier. Maybe in the USA, it is

But still. Delayed updates (or getting none at all) is a huge problem affecting most Android users. I'm writing this from a phone with Android 2.1... And HTC already declared there will be no more updates. Even the update to 2.1 came with 6

I hope this means non-Java-based languages (Scala and Clojure would count as Java-based) with C FFI will be easier to use, too.

I like your analysis, but this statement is self-contradictory: "it's the most vulnerable, but also has the most momentum behind them". I think that Windows, Office... is the least vulnerable part of Microsoft, but it's also low-growth.

Copyright can be simulated using purely private contracts (basically requiring everyone who gets the content to sign an NDA, which may be impractical, but possible). This legitimises copyright somewhat IMO. Also, the damage from copyright i

Most people, including myself, cannot actually read patents. Being told that the summary is irrelevant does not help at all. What are we supposed to do, ignore the patent because we don't understand it?
